We stopped by this local pub because we were on the hunt for dinner on our way to Muskoka, and goodness me, the food was amazing! Below is the food we ordered, and I highly recommend everything we got:
-[DEEP FRIED CURDS] $14.15 π§ Served with your choice of marinara or gravy to deep the curds into π§ I opted to go with marinara, and I have no regrets! Love deep fried cheese, and it was served piping hot
-[FISH & CHIPS // 2 PCS] $28 π Ontario Walleye, beer battered in house, fried to perfection, served with their handcut fries, and tartar sauce π Portion sizes for both the fish, and the fries was good π The prices are a bit steep in general, but understandable
-[SMOKED MAC N' CHEESE] $13.95 π§ This is an October feature meaning it won't be on the menu going forward, but it consists of classic macaroni smothered in a smoked three cheese sauce π Also served with garlic toast πΆοΈ This dish had a bit of a kick to it as it looked like it was topped with a good amount of black pepper, and pepper flakes
Minus a star for the delayed service our table received.
We were seated fairly quickly, but it did take us almost 20 minutes for a server to come by and take our order even after all four of us made repeated eye contact with several servers. Eventually, when we did place our order, our food came out within five minutes, and was delicious though! It did look like perhaps the local regulars were served before we were, which I think is something that could be worked on but otherwise, I would definitely...

We were really excited to have lunch in what we saw had good ratings with a small town vibe. When this waitress asked us what we would like to drink, we asked her what kind of craft beer do you have, and she listed off a few. We asked if it was local beer from Muskoka, not being from here and wanting to support local breweries. She rolled her eyes and said very rudely "like I said..." and then listed them off again with a smirk. We came here for a pleasant lunch (we had a child with us by the way). Never in my life have I been treated so disrespectfully. We were happy, coming back from a farm tour and really excited to be there. She absolutely s* on our experience, maybe she felt threatened that she had to wait on two beautiful girls when she looked average af? Not sure what her problem was, but we got up and left immediately. Would never recommend, you should fire this girl for her...
Β Β Β Read moreIt seems truly criminal that such a miserably managed pub exists in such a beautiful spot. The Bala Falls Pub is ideally located near the Kee, and is accessible by boat. They offer a few local craft beers from Lake of Bays. Menu is fairly typical pub fare by design.
Unfortunately, the ownership has not capitalized on their ideal location. Front of house servers are fairly hard working and busy but there is something severely wrong with the kitchen. 1 hour for a medium pizza is excessive. And this is not a one off event. We have given this location multiple tries and always found the service times to be unacceptable. The pizza, when it came, bizarrely had extreme hot sauce that was smothering everything, whereas the rest of the toppings were fairly cold and slightly undercooked as if it were rushed. There were only four small parties in the pub so this will remain a mystery to me.
Wish the management here would get their kitchen in order. Otherwise, you should probably avoid this poorly managed and ultimately...
