Olivers Coffee — Restaurant in District Municipality of Muskoka

TERRIBLE experience this morning, Tuesday May 14/2024. (8:30am time frame) Zero stars! - Do NOT recommend dealing with this staff member, extremely difficult!! (Dirty blonde/light brown hair, bangs? Bracelets/necklaces)

Ordered an iced latte with caramel, which came out looking like an iced coffee, with a large amount of coffee grinds in the bottom of the cup, aswell as floating. Staff also didn't give the feta spinach pastry I also asked for after the latte orders, and asked me again what flavor shot I wanted, as she had already forgotten. Doomed from the get go lol. Asked if staff could make another, was met with "this never happens", and then in the next sentence, "the machine doesn't work properly half the time", lol what? Which one is it!! I mention to staff they should advise store owner if machine isn't working properly. Staff defense from the get go, even poured some of the iced latte onto the ground after looking at the bottom grounds. The second one she attempted came out with coffee grounds in it aswell. I finally got a refund at the end, after all the strange responses lol. I've never had an issue at the Oliver's in Port Carling, staff angrily responds "Maybe you should go there then"!

All staff had to do was apologize and either make a new proper one (not brown coffee water with grinds and a terrible demeanor lol), or offer a refund, none of the other strange angry remarks/behaviors lol.

Another patron was given a free pastry during my interaction with said staff as she had forgotten to even give her the proper order. All around strange!!

I will be letting my local coworkers know about this odd encounter, and will no longer support this establishment.

Not sure why staffs lack of knowledge on dealing with the public, as well as how lattes are made, turns into such an incident lol Jesus.

Extremely inappropriate, rude and unbecoming....

I’ve had there coffee a few times. Mediocre at best, but does the job especially in an area where options are VERY limited. Typically someone picks me up a cup but on this occasion I went to Oliver’s to pick up a few cups. I was greeted by an older woman who seemed quite ornery and inconvenienced that I wanted coffee. I ordered two cups and she asked how I’d pay. I said visa. She sharply responded cash or debit. I said “okay, I believe I have debit”. She then said “Not American”! I was taken back as all cards I withdrew from my wallet were (quite obviously) Canadian cards. Her voice was loud and her tone was rude. I said okay with some question in my voice and tapped my card. It declined as I hadn’t activated that particular card. She exclaimed “NOPE”! sounding satisfied that she thought she was right or really annoyed that she thought she was right. Not sure. I explained it wasn’t activated and I’d try my other debit card. She again stated “not American”! I said okay and tapped my card with success. She then poured me two coffees and I left. In a time where small business’s are dying you’d expect simple manners and maybe hospitality to be a given. Oliver’s is one of the 2 coffee shops for at least twenty kilometres. I went the next morning to the other shop. Slightly pricier, SIGNIFICANTLY better coffee. All payment options. Enthusiastic and welcoming staff. Completely different experience. I seldomly leave negative reviews. What pushed me to write this was my child asked me when we got in the car why the lady had been...

After having an exceptional experience at the Bracebridge location we were excited to get the same order at the Bala location. Unfortunately, it was no where near the same. You would think it would be consistent but it was not.

Service was terrible. They were very unpleasant and the coffee order was very disappointing. We ordered a large cappuccino which was given in a small cup and barely had any frothed milk and my xl coffee was only 3/4 full.

Not worth the trip, but if you are in Bracebridge we highly recommend the Main...
