On September 13, myself and my wife met up with some old friends at the kelseys in Orillia on Memorial Dr. We were greeted promptly and sat at our table. Looking at the menu we all figured out what we were going to have. We started with the deep fried pickles and the salt and vinny shrimp. The crust on the shrimp was overcooked and on the verge of being burnt and there was no flavour of salt and vinegar chips til i noticed a white powder. Looks like the flavour shakers for popcorn at home. No where close to what you hear advertised on the radio. My friends ordered a ultimate bacon and cheese burger and a rib and wing combo which he upgraded to a half rack. My wife also ordered a rib and wing combo and i ordered the Nashville hot chicken burger. The food arrived in good time but not without any issues. Both the rib and wing combos had raw chicken wings and my Nashville hot chicken burger had barely any spices. When asked why the hot chicken wasn't tossed in siracha sauce i was told the the siracha was a dry rub. I asked for a side of medium wing sauce which was brought to me. The wings were taken back and replaced yet my wifes replacements were still undercooked and she could not enjoy them. During this whole time not once did we see a manager come to our table and when presented the bills were charged full price for everything. With all this said, sadly both myself and my friend were managers at a kelseys and would have been deeply upset if any of our other managers had done what happened to us. I wasn't going to write a review but it has been on my mind since that poitentially my wife could have been made very ill not once but twice on the same item. We left very dissapointed and are fairly sure we won't be back. At least not to that kelseys. I do hope this is not the new procedures across the board with all the...
Read moreI’ve had a few disappointing experiences at Kelsey’s I first booked a birthday dinner here five years ago for a large group. When we arrived, we were told to just pick our seats, and that they’d be separating us to different tables. After explaining that we had specifically booked to sit together, they finally started pushing tables together to accommodate our group — a frustrating start to the night.
Then, about three years ago, I went for lunch with my mom and requested garlic toast without cheese. I was told that the garlic toast is shipped frozen with cheese already on it, and they couldn’t make a simple substitution. It honestly blew my mind that a restaurant couldn’t accommodate such a basic request.
Fast forward to our most recent visit for our 1-year wedding anniversary. Since it was Family Day, dining options were limited, so we decided to give Kelsey’s another chance and we regretted it. Our waitress was nice but overall the service was slow. The food looked good initially, but it took a long time to arrive, despite the restaurant not being busy. We had nachos as a starter, which were fine the chips were good and the guacamole was simple but tasty. However, our main meals were disappointing. The steak for the fajitas was really chewy, and everything lacked flavor. It was so underwhelming that I ended up mostly eating the chips and guacamole. To top it off, a fruit fly kept circling our table, which can be a real appetite killer.
After paying, I noticed we were charged for three meals when we only had two. We had to wait again for them to sort out the refund.
Overall, it’s been a series of frustrating experiences, and after this latest one, we’ve decided that we won’t...
Read moreI'm from Ontario, Niagara region, on vacation with my family from Madrid, Spain, staying at Deerhurst resort. Kelsey's has been a favorite of our Canadian family for years. We are very easygoing customers, but we were all shocked by the awful service from our server Ashley today at the Kelsey's in Hunstville. From a toddler booster seat that never arrived to her attitude every time she approached our table. My husband placed the order for all of us each time, drinks, main course, desserts, there was no interest or effort from her side to provide a good service. She rather had a rude attitude and a moody tone. Our interactions with her felt awkward, always rushed, almost as if we were an inconvenience. The cherry in top was at the end of our meal, 3 desserts were ordered, after some waiting time, she returned to bring only one, that was melting already while the other 2 were being prepared. Some time after, she returned, we had to change one of our choices, "the cake was too soft to be cut", was her explanation. We ordered something else really quick, didn't think much of it. She then returned and almost threw the 2 remaining desserts at my husband, along with 3 forks, didn't bother to ask who, out of the 7 people in our party was having dessert. Needless to say how hard it was to eat melted ice-cream with the forks she left us, but yet again, we decided not to make any fuss and left a 15% tip. This was our last dinner before returning home and sadly the last thing we'll remember from our...
