As someone who always leaves reviewsâespecially when a place truly deserves to be promotedâWINDMILL BAKERY & BISTRO in HUNTSVILLE, Ontario absolutely makes the list.
This charming spot has all the warmth of a small-town bakery, yet the quality and presentation of everything from their pies and pastries to their friendly service give it an edge that rivals big-city cafĂŠs. Everything in the display case looks irresistibly delicious, and thankfully, it tastes as good as it looks! Their key lime pie and butter tarts are personal favoritesâflaky, rich, and made with care.
The outdoor patio, with its splash of colorful flowers, is such a refreshing space to sit and relax, while the indoor seating is clean, tidy, and inviting. You can tell the owners take pride in every detail. Even something as practical as the spacious parking makes the experience easy and stress-free.
But what really makes Windmill stand out is the vibeâitâs authentic, unpretentious, and welcoming. The staff greet you with genuine smiles, not because itâs their job, but because they love what they do.
This is the kind of place Iâm always happy to supportâand shout out. Donât miss it if youâre in Huntsville. Itâs a sweet, satisfying stop youâll be glad you made.

Read moreIm giving this a 1 star for the butter tarts. Sorry folks ..Im suffering from a huge disappointment. Hubby came home from a fishing trip with a lovely box. Anticipating these wonderful homemade buttertarts to embrace my guests and staff members with amazing goodness . To my surprise ..to say the least was shocking. Where ?,what? r happened? !!?? To the filling? Did someone eat them?? I almost acused my husband. This can't be! We had butter tarts from the Windmill Bakery 2 years, ago .They were superb ! . We always talked about dropping in on the next trip up north. Now I know why my hubby was so hush hush about them. Why did you buy them? He said" Because you wanted them". I said to him .".I would have passed and asked where is the darn filling"??? " Would you order a meat lovers pizza and expect to receive just the sauce on the pizza"? Sorry Windmill Bakery and Bistro... huge thumbs down on this one. Im still shaking my head in disbelief. Message to the owner.. .Never ever change the original receipe on a successful product. Spend the money on food quantity and qualityy not on fancy expensive boxes that end up hard working money in the trash. Lesson learned...
Read moreNot to get all philosophical, but in my second year philosophy class, I learned about Aristotleâs theory on the 'good life'. Conceptually, I was able to resonate with the premise of his ideations; however, I feel his assessment neglected the experience of ordering pastries at the Windmill Bakery and Bistro on 99 Hanes Rd, Huntsville Ontario, P1H 2G4. Look, Iâm not trying to overcomplicate anyoneâs life. I understand that people travel and like to sight see - but why would I travel 10+ hours to Boston (not to mention the highway tolls), when every taste of Boston could be experienced in the Windmillâs Bakery and Bistro Boston creme donut? It was an enchanting experience, one of pleasure, comfort and history. I would recommend it to anyone. Also not to ramble, but on the day I visited, I used the Windmillâs Bakery and Bistroâs restroom to change for a wedding. Iâm telling you I probably could have eaten off the floors they were that squeaky clean! Now hygienically I know itâs not a great practice as clean floors are often drenched in chemicals and beeswax, but lets just say the thought certainly...
