Last night, Tuesday July 24, 2018, myself and 16 members of my family dined at your location at 3839 Boul Saint-Jean, Dollard-des-Ormeaux QC.
We had spent the day paying our last respects to, and burying, my grandfather. It was a very sad and emotionally draining day. No plan had been made for the latter part of the day as we were just concerned with getting through it. At approximately 7:00PM we called your restaurant to enquire about the availability of a reservation for 17 people in 1 hour at 8:00PM. We were told immediately that we were welcome and I booked the reservation under my name.
From start to finish Dennis (how he introduced himself to us, anglophones, perhaps Denis?)...was amazing. He was attentive and fun with the smaller children in the group. He was funny, friendly, and a fantastic server. My mother mentioned at least 4 times today how amazing he was with my grandmother at the end of the meal. He took the time to ask her about her life with my grandfather. He provided words of condolence and showed genuine interest in their life. He was a shining light on a very dark day.
Two very minor mistakes were corrected with lightning speed and the items affected did not appear on our bill. We did not request any compensation and we were not at all concerned but it was a very nice surprise. When I mentioned I was travelling back to Toronto by car, the half of my meal that I didn’t finish was brought back to me VACUUM SEALED from the kitchen for ease of transport. Before making the switch to real estate I was a server full-time for 18 years and I have worked at some of the top restaurants in Toronto with some of the best people and I have never done that nor seen it done by anyone. That was amazing. The overall level of service we received was phenomenal.
I hope you pass these words along and I want you to know just how special an employee you have there. I say this as an elated guest and a service industry veteran, Den(n)is is a diamond in the rough. I hope you give him ample opportunity to continue providing exceptional customer service to your...
Read moreMy family and I recently ate at Baton Rouge DDO on a Saturday night and we had a good experience overall, however, there are some areas that need improvement.
The positive:
Our large group was accommodated at a big table and there was excellent communication regarding when our table would be available.
Our waiter Dallas had a positive attitude and finished the service strong despite a few hiccups along the way as he was taking our orders for drinks and food.
The quality of food was very good. My rib steak and fully loaded baked potatoes were on point. Vegetables were OK but are an afterthought at a steak house IMO 😂. The calamari entrée was excellent.
My smoked old fashioned and Heineken pint were very good.
The not so good areas that need improvement:
It took a very long time for us to get our first drink order taken and we were not offered water.
It took 30+ minutes for us to receive our drinks after reminding the staff. This is unacceptable.
One of our beers were forgotten. This situation was quickly resolved and we were brought the beer as well as an extra one to overdeliver (on the house). This was a nice touch until we were charged for both on our final bills. This was quickly resolved by Dallas who removed the charge.
The size of the Caesar salad was half of what it used to be. It was delicious but Baton Rouge is skimping on the portion size.
At the end of the meal, there were extra charges on our bills that were later removed, however, this did not end things on a positive note for some of my family.
Overall, I would give this restaurant another shot as the food was very good and service while inconsistent, finished strong from the point of delivering our main courses to the end.
Dallas was very professional and addressed any concerns that we had. He was kind and compassionate throughout...
Read moreBATON ROUGE RESTAURANTS NOT WHAT IT USED TO BE... We went there to celebrate my bday with my wife around 7:30pm last wednesday night. The place was pretty empty as expected on a weeknight around that time I guess. We were seated in a booth right away and shortly after a waiter showed up. We ordered one of the "specials" items mentioned and a rack of ribs. Shortly after a family with children and a newborn were seated immediately next to us... The older child was kicking the base of the booth so I laughed thinking its cute and it will stop...it didn't. They were oblivious to anything...hence why they had a newborn in a restaurant at now 9pm on a wednesday... sigh...Then the newborn starts crying cause they left him tied in the stroller and they are doing nothing about it...meanwhile ALL THE OTHER TABLES IN OUR AREA WERE FREE but they stuck them next to us as if it was a staff joke perhaps hoping to get an early close... We had started eating but our options were limited. Changing tables was a bit inconvenient since we were already eating... Having staff handle it ...YA LOL Now that was the staff AS FOR THE FOOD... :( My ribs were smothered in bbq sauce but the ribs had a crunchy crust to them which would have been a return anyways... WHO WANTS CRUNCHY RIBS EWW ! The chicken they offered in their special was not any better... We used to really enjoy that restaurant chain its too bad it seems like owner(s) stopped caring about the customers and the quality of their food and staff.... what a shame... In the end I spoke with our waiter and a tall manager guy who both did nothing about the situation... And for that reason, I'm out ! We will go eat at The Keg and 40west instead NO MORE BATON ROUGE ITS NOT...
