When you're shopping for furniture, do yourself a favor and look into the manufacturers that the store is selling before you place any custom orders. We ordered a sectional from elran back in April 2023 at a local furniture store and it's understandable that materials take time as well as, and especially, labour. So we waited months and our sectional finally arrived.
However, during shipping to the store one of the pieces was heavily damaged during transport to the store, and although it could be used as part of the sectional until it was replaced by the manufacturer to sit on, the piece that was damaged in the back is not nearly as comfortable as the rest of the intact sofa system. And it wasn't cheap either. We were told it would take a few months (again) for us to receive the replacement piece. It's been a few months now. We followed up with the store. The store contacted elran. The store was told it was going to take another couple of months because they were waiting on materials. Um, excuse me? The materials that we were assured were in stock when we initially placed the order in April? Or is it that this manufacturer does not have as easy access to materials as they are leading stores to believe.
Now, we are not in any way blaming the store because we know that elran is the one responsible for the defective article arriving in the condition it did at the store (via their shipping dock or shipper). In hindsight, we should have looked at the reviews here on Google BEFORE we even considered buying any of their goods. Judging by the other reviews we're not the first very dissatisfied customers. The other thing that we did not lik about the sectional, is a lot of the threads were still hanging out from the fabric so we had to go over all of the surfaces and push in any loose ends or trim pieces that elran is supposed to be doing before they ship it out. Not the store. Not the customer. But the manufacturing quality control. Not impressed. Will never buy from this company again.
Hoping the replacement piece of our sectional arrives before the snow flies, but the snow flies early here so highly doubt it.
So, anyone out there reading this before they buy an elran sectional?...
Read moreI have never experienced this kind of poor craftsmanship on any furniture product I have ever purchased. I purchased an El Ran sectional with 4 reclining seats in the beginning of May, 2015, from BIF Furniture in Fairfax, VA. The thing has not worked from Day 1, and after several months, the thing is still in the process of being repaired to this day. The furniture repair company is making a killing as it is a non-stop carousel of furniture repair visits - each one not successful and leading to more.
First - the El Ran had the scissor arms installed BACKWARDS at the factory, resulting in the mechanism being completely bent and not functioning in one of the sectional pieces. Then in another sectional piece, the button controls stopped working, so the recliner was stuck in the UP position. A new scissor arm frame had to be ordered, and 2 months later installed. The control buttons were ordered THREE TIMES because they kept ordering the wrong ones. Then, after several months, once the correct buttons were received - guess what? They don't work and new buttons have to be ordered. At the same time as the new, non-functioning buttons were attempted to be installed, yet another frame problem with another sectional piece. After 2 hours of attempted repair, it was deemed yet another factory defect and ... you guessed it .. another frame as to be ordered, so here comes another 2-3 month wait.
It's been horrible service and communication from both El Ran and the furniture dealer, and extremely poor craftsmanship...
Read moreLast Update: Elran staff finally reached out. Absolutely nothing was accomplished from the conversation. No apology, nor explanation why they could not build what was ordered. Elran Elran slogan is the “Art of options” that’s fine if you can an execute on that and use excuses why an order was not met. Elran staff said to take the issue up with the store we purchased the chairs. I asked why I would do that. The order sheet is super simple and was completed properly. This is an Elran QC issue not the store. Especially when the delivered the first chairs damaged with yellow paint and then wrapped in plastic. Says a lot about the lack QC.
Still disappointed! As suggested by Elran, I tried calling and no luck getting a response. Not to mention the hours for Elran do not accommodate customers on the west coast. I’ve left 2 VM’s and called numerous other times (more than 6x) and we remain disappointed. So much for buy Canadian.
Disappointed and frustrated barely sum up our experience with Elran. We ordered two recliners and still cannot get what was ordered. We wanted Canadian made and ordered tall backs. First chairs arrived with minor damage and not with the taller backs. Elran apologized and said they would send new chairs exactly as we ordered. Nope not the case. This has been going on since Feb. it’s July. Does not bode well for made in Canada when you can’t get what you ordered. I guess it’s time to buy from someone...
