Marathon Souvlaki — Restaurant in Dollard-des-Ormeaux

Do NOT come here for parties or if you want a relaxed, enjoyable evening with family and friends. Very rushed dining experience. After we payed we were told to leave promptly. We had my wife's 40th birthday party here because she loves greek food. The food is good and our server Angelo was very nice, I would give him 5 stars. Now why the low rating? After dinner we had the birthday cake and shortly after we all paid our bill, the server came up to us and said that his superior (I don't know if it was the manager or owner) had told him to tell us that we had to leave because they had another group coming in. First and foremost, the manager should have came directly to me to say this personally, not have his server take this upon his shoulders, this is a severe lacks of professionalism and respects for his employee and guests. My server felt extremely embarassed and ashamed for being told to ask us to leave, especially after sharing a slice of birthday cake with us. He was amazed by the cake so I offered him a slice which he ate speedily because he is working and does not want to disrespect his other guests but it was nice for him to join us even if it was brief. This restaurant is very busy because the food is good and the price is fair for the portions you get BUT if you can't handle a reservation for a medium sized group like this then don't take the reservation. I don't want to say it ruined my wife's 40th birthday party but it ended on a bad note. This restaurant should have been honest enough to say on the phone they don't want us staying long because this is the sort of place that wants you to eat and then get out. Had I known this, I would have made reservations elsewhere. I am a long time customer of Marathons because they have a few locations. Highly doubtful I would ever step foot into this particular location again and I definitely don't recommend doing and event here. The food is good but this experience has left a sour taste...

I think you can accurately judge a person's culinary palate and experience by the place they refer you to for the best Greek food 🇬🇷 in montreal? There are tons of places that may be worthy and it totally depends on your criteria?

It is on the west island and is part of a very small chain. I only go to this one so go to this one! I love this place seriously. I introduce this place to people and they fall in love and bring their own family here. Marathon is now a Montour family tradition ❤️ and I love it that I helped to create it! And a few other places 😉 ... DKM...

I am kind of unsure on how to rate it because after having a good meal on date night, our waiter decided to give us a lecture on why we didn't tip enough. For 10 minutes he just kept going at it. I work in a restaurant and I know how it works and I tipped accordingly. Way to spoil our date night on the first Saturday we had off in over 6 months. After his chat he expected to get more tips. ‐-------------- On our second visit, we were lucky to have a different waiter and the experience was soo much better. The food was awesome. We got the large gyro plate and it was enough for 2 people. I gave 1 star before because of the waiter but they deserve an upgrade to 4. This is the first place i went to where there was meat under the rice instead of making a little meat appear a lot on the plate by piling it on rice. The potatoes are a must and you dont have to choose between rice and potatoes. They will let you have both. I personally prefer the marathon salad by its description but I am sure their Greek tomato salad will be great too. ----‐------------ 4 more visits since my 2nd post. Added a 5th star. Definitely one of our go to places. The plates are massive and $14.25 for lunch is a steal. Feeds 2 people easy with a slice of garlic bread. $20 after tax and tips. Beats...
