Yumma Restaurant — Restaurant in Dollard-des-Ormeaux

Unfortunately really had high hopes for this restaurant based on the facebook group posts and reviews, but was thoroughly disappointed. We took the fried fish platted and the seafood spaghetti and both were extremely not tasty. Lentil soup is very hard to make it not tasty, but this one was extremely sour and couldn’t even taste the lentils. Thankfully there was A LOT of seasonings on the table so we used a lot of it to TRY and fix the food, but didn’t work. Rice was undercooked & hard, potatoes were old and dry but at least cooked and the seafood spaghetti smelled TERRIBLE even though it was doused with lemon, salt and pepper to try and make it taste good. I gave 2 stars because the staff was very nice abd smiley, but I had to ask at least 3 times for just water to our table. We finally got it AFTER we had received all the food and our purchased soft drinks took even longer to arrive. I didn’t want to waste and be rude, so we took 90% of the food to go and I try to recook it myself at home, but couldn’t even tolerate the smell in the car. Specifically the clams that I think were very close to rotting. Sad to leave this review, but i want to be honest so others don’t get disappointed either. Ok finally the other place has a competition and a very tough one. I believe in competition for variety of reasons. To start with it keeps them in check in regards to quality and service. 6 months ago I went to the other one and I was totally disappointed with quality and service. As a quiet customer I paid my dues and walked and never looked back. Let me say I was a regular one and they know us all. Anyways, you guys have top notch quality in seafood and have a different taste too. I’m glad you guys just didn’t open exactly like the other one. Simply excellent seafood & grill resto. We had plates of 10 large shrimp, 10-12 calamari, hummus, baba ghanoush, salad, grilled shish taouk & soft drinks; everything was absolutely delicious, well-marinated, cooked & tasty.
