Iâm from Texas and love love love Mexican food. Reviews were high so we tried it but I left annoyed because it was a waste of money. Better choices would be El Rey Del Taco as it is way my better and Iâve been going there 11 years for their genuine Mexican food. Another better option would be Three Amigos. This place is for people that donât eat Mexican food, cause itâs white washed.
Service: Woman at the cash was flippant and paid little interest to us asking about her favorite picks. Then took a phone call in the middle of us ordering.
Food: I ordered the 3 Pollos tacos, and they were really disappointing. The meat was dry, no flavour and really chewy. There were two uncooked corn tortillas on each taco, so it tasted mealy and seemed like it was just to make the plate look fuller. The Mexican rice was terrible, bland little flavour and missing the staple ingredients you would typically find in it. Beans were the best thing on the plate, just watery. The trio came with chips but only a tiny handful, and the salsa was terrible. The red salsa taste liked tomato sauce and had no chunks of tomato/onion etc.
Although my order left me regretful, my partner got the Birria taco and the meat was much better than mine. They shared the same complaints for all other...
Read moreWas excited to try this place due to the hype when it first opened. It was one of the only places that offered Quesabirria tacos in the city in general, but specifically literally the only one in the west. I thought it was quite promising due to the previous statements, also it seems to be owned by a family, and the decor was very authentic. What sold me was that they sold Mexican candy, and that usually is a sign to me that the resto is actually authentic.
I ordered the Quesabirria tacos and chips and guac.......I literally threw it out. Tasteless, flavourless, bland, was not even good enough to eat the rest....and I hate wasting food. But it was SO UNSATISFYING. And the chips and guac, how do you mess that up? The chips must've been an old batch or something because they were old and stale tasting....and then the guac, where do I even start. It was runny and liquid like...and tasted not good. It's like all of their food lacked any real or true seasoning.
Anyway, if you're new to Mexican food, maybe this is a nice place for you.....if you're looking for real Mexican food, please go visit any Mexican resto on...
Read moreWe decided to visit Tacos Don Rigo after seeing a few positive reviews and being drawn in by the fun, vibrant exterior đ¤Šit definitely catches your eye.
However, we were surprised to find that the service was more like a food court setup: you place your order and pay at the cashier, then go sit and wait for them to bring the food to your table while calling out your name.
We ordered the carnitas quesadilla, birria tacos with cheese, and two margaritas. The total came to $76, which felt very overpricedđespecially for Mexican food. The margaritas tasted overly sweet and artificial, far from a proper margarita.
On a positive note, the ambiance and dĂŠcor are definitely unique and fun, and the food itself was tasty. But for that price point, it just didnât feel worth it. Our meals came with chips on the side, and unfortunately, they tasted stale.
Overall, while the place has a cool vibe and good food, the pricing and drink quality left us...
