Throughout the years this place has been one of the best if not the best sandwich shop in town. Not only that they have great pasta and now even one of the best poutines I have ever tried. I was working beside the deli and decided to try a curbside pickup through toast. I gave the make and model of my vehicle as suggested and waited the 20 minutes it stated my order may take. No order came and when I went inside I was told that I had to call them. I was directed to the owner Albert who said this is the case and has always been that way. I told him that there are no instructions that say that through toast and I provided the details as asked. He apologized then said he would contact toast and have that changed. Then next weekend I placed an online pickup order again and chose to go inside. This time there was a glitch in the system and my money was taken off of my card yet the manager at the time could not find my order. I was directed again to Albert. I sent him an email with proof of payment but he was getting a haircut and did not want to review my email until he got to his computer where he could also check the mainframe to see if there was an order. My payment was pending which Albert had noted and I mentioned that it is always like that for a few days. The next day I sent him proof that my payment had posted. He said that the minus symbol means that the money went back to your account, while disregarding the minus symbol in the pending transaction. He made no attempt to understand why this could have happened. Had he tried to talk with me and we both come to a conclusion about the situation, I would have placed a new order right away and then dealt with the posted payment afterwards. He has no idea how his chosen online ordering system works nor is not very familiar with how credit cards work it seems. If the transaction was going to drop off, that can take 10-30 days. It posted that night, so obviously toast put the money into your account. Now if you are unable to check each transaction that happens, as easily as I can in my neo app, then I can understand that. As well as I can understand that you would be hesitant to refund my money or make my order based on a pending transaction when you have no order in your system. This kind of thing happens once in awhile but your approach to the situation is embarrassing. You avoid the issue and flat out lie because you are blinded by hatred or just plain ignorant. This is what children do. They avoid the issue and hope it all works out. Very disappointed in Albert. Now we all will have different experiences and the food is top of the line. Albert, do not be afraid of your shadow. We need men today more than ever and good luck.
Refund issued through toast. Thanks...
Read moreI came across D'Amore Italian Deli here on Google Maps and decided to make a trip out there on my next visit to Edmonton. I stopped in around noon on a weekday, and the place had a good number of people inside. It's a lively place and the owner(italian looking guy)? Was very friendly. Seating wise, they have a couple tables and a counter. I sat at the counter as I was alone and didn't want to hog a table. I went with a pizza sub, ice vanilla coffee, and decided to try their Chili cheese fries. The ice coffee was okay, enjoyable, but not something I'd have again. The chili cheese fries were really good, the chili in it fantastic the fries nice. My only issue with them was not much cheese sauce. There was more stuck to the lid than on my fries, so that's a real shame. The pizza sub was good, but they use a panini press to heat it, and it did a horrible job of heating the meat and cheese. The meat was still cold, and the cheese barely melted. This was disappointing. I actually saved half the sandwich and took it home where I threw it in the oven for dinner and enjoyed it much more. I think next time I'll get my sandwich to go and ask for it cold so I can heat it properly at home. Also, panini presses just condense the bread and are terrible for heating the meat and cheese to release their flavor and fats. Wish they would get a proper salamander oven or something. I still would say this is a 5 star place because the quality of the Chili on the fries and the sandwich was super delicious when I took it home and heated...
