I’ve always preferred visiting the Windermere location of Marble Slab Creamery, even going out of my way to stop here instead of other branches. Unfortunately, my recent experience was extremely disappointing and upsetting, primarily due to the behavior of a staff member named Xena (or Zena).
While the store advertises unlimited mix-ins, I was met with resistance when I politely requested Nutella sauce on top of my ice cream. Instead of accommodating the request professionally, she raised her voice and snapped, “WHICH ONE?” This sudden aggression was both uncalled for and embarrassing, especially with other customers present.
To make matters worse, while my husband was paying, she loudly commented to her coworker—clearly intended for us to hear—about the number of toppings in our order. This made the interaction feel intentionally rude and humiliating.
What struck me most was that her demeanor toward us was noticeably different from how she interacted with other (non-Brown) customers. That contrast in treatment led me to feel that her behavior was racially motivated, which is deeply hurtful and unacceptable.
This experience was disappointing not just because of poor customer service, but because we’ve always chosen this location specifically due to past positive visits. It's disheartening to now feel unwelcome in a place we previously enjoyed.
I sincerely hope that the management takes this feedback seriously and provides appropriate training or oversight to ensure all customers are treated with equal respect and kindness—regardless of race or background.

Since moving to Edmonton in 2022, I have struggled to find an ice cream spot that hits the mark. Most places were just too sweet, with even sweeter toppings that gave me no satisfaction, and I was starting to lose hope. Yes, people, it was that serious. My joy in life was being crushed. Then, by chance, my husband and I saw Marble Slab after a movie, and he suggested we try it. I went in fully expecting to be disappointed. My first server, Priyanka, listened so kindly when I explained that I have a bit of a delicate palate for ice cream. She was incredibly welcoming and patient as I explored the flavors and unlimited mix-in options.
I found my favorite blend right away: strawberry ice cream mixed with all kinds of berries, pineapple, and almonds. It's absolutely delicious! I’ve been back at least six times a month since, often bringing my kids along. The ice cream here strikes the perfect balance of sweetness and refreshment, and I love that I can add fruit mix-ins rather than just caramel or chocolate syrups.
The staff always makes me feel welcome, even when I experiment with some pretty wild combinations. Special shout-out to Priyanka, Lydia, and Jay—you’re amazing! You guys often remind me when I miss out on a beloved topping and laugh when I gasped dramatically saying I would die if I went home and the flavor was not perfect. You guys made strawberry ice cream close to closing because you anticipated I would come to the store and know it is my favorite flavor.

I called and spoke with the owner to ask if they were busy and she replied no so i asked if my order was ready she first replied that she had 25-30 orders which contradicts the first statement of them not being busy as well as giving me 6 different answers all of which had not actually answered my question. I said i just want to know if my order is made and when it will be coming she called me rude and that was extremely offensive she started to get argumentative even though i hadnt spoken out of line i didnt rause my voice she said i was yelling...ive lost my voice because im sick (hence the ice cream order) i was absolutely shocked with her behaviour and being so definsive when all i wanted was an answer and to know that the order i paid for was indeed on its way.
