My friend and I went for a lunch date at the Millcreek Café because we had heard good things. The experience started well but took a turn for the worst when a new waitress accidentally gave us the food that the table next to us had ordered (after we had ordered ours) because the orders were similar we didn't notice that is was wrong and since we were hungry we immediately began to eat out sandwiches. It wasn't until another waiter walked towards us with the right order that I realized we were eating the wrong food. The waiter quickly turned back to the kitchen with our food, then (who I assume was) the manager came to our table to tell us we were eating the wrong food and did not apologize for the mistake or try to rectify it. Since it was obvious that they wouldn't be bringing us our real order we finished the food that they gave us since it was still delicious. At the end of our meal the manager returned with the debit machine to charge us for our meal she asked if she could charge us for the sandwiches that we ordered (which were more expensive than the sandwiches that we received). I calmly responded "no we will pay for the sandwiches that we ate". When she looked angry with me I continued with " what you should have done was brought us our order and not charges for the order that was brought to us by mistake". She said "but you ate them". To which I responded, "we were really hungry and didn't know it was wrong order not our that your waitress made a mistake". Then she said "I'm not going to argue with you" then persisted to argue, "the waitress made a mistake because she's new and she's still learning". The last thing I said to her before we left was, "that's fine, I'm not upset about the mistake, I am upset about your reaction to the mistake".
If you are going to run a business and maintain it's good reputation you have to expect to take some loss due to human error and you certainly should not make a habit of trying to make your customers pay for your employees mistakes. I can only imagine the scolding that poor waitress received...

Today's visit. After waiting a month to return here with my family, I am very let down .
I need to amend my review from 5 stars to 2 to reflect on today's visit. I had an awful experience by Greg, the owners son. We were treated poorly and without respect at all. How embarrassing to be argued with in front of the entire café. After explaining to him about the foods quality and taste, I was treated as though I was not being truthful. I asked for a 1/2 gluten-free turkey sandwich with everything but tomatoes and lettus and a cup of soup. The food was brought out it was a whole sandwich. I mentioned that i only ordered 1/2 and then was told after it came out that "they don't do 1/2 sandwiches for gluten-free bread," and there were no sprouts. (Instead of letting me know when I ordered) I took one bite and couldn't even eat it as it was dry and the turkey meat was a large amount of dark, bruised meat and a tiny bit of white where it wouldnt even stay on the bread, in comparison to my last visit where it was the best sandwich I ever had, I was very disappointed and let down today. Also, for being charged $32 for a breakfast for my mom and sister it was cold and over priced for 3 eggs and 8 pieces of meat, cold potatoes and dry toast. Also, none of the kitchen staff were wearing hair nets or gloves, and I witnessed one cook wipe his nose with his finger and then on his apron. 🤢 The other 2 staff members we encountered were kind and polite. I am absolutely sad to be treated with such rudeness after I've been visiting this café for years off and on and being a paid, returning customer. I am still in shock as to how Greg treated me today, so upset and...
Read moreI had the worst experience yesterday. I'm a weekly customer of this restaurant and supported them regularly during the pandemic. But no more. Part 1: When our order did not arrive within 25 mins, we were told that they were making a new batch of potatoes for our breakfast. When another 10 mins went by, our waiter informed us that the order did not go through on his tablet. When the order finally arrived (now 45 mins in) he said he would take of our coffees. We started to eat, but both realized the potatoes tasted off, like they had been made in rancid oil. I informed the waiter, but because we were now in a rush, i said we would just eat the eggs and toast. He apologized and said he would cover the meal. Part 2: As we were getting up to leave, the manager came over for with the bill. I explained what had happened, and was told that he, the manager had tasted the potatoes and they were fine. Basically telling us we were lying. I told him the waiter said he would cover the bill, but the manager said he was authorized to do so. I said you should have a chat with your waiter. The manager said he (the waiter) had worked there for 8 years and should know better. I explained that we had to go, and that our meals arrived 45 mins late, and were not satisfactory and that I was a regular (this by the way all occurred in front of other diners.) He insisted I pay for the meal. I then bargained him down to pay for one of the meals to avoid any further embarrassment. Part 3: Both I and my dining partner both were sick to our stomachs shortly after we left. Bye bye Mill Creek Cafe! I encourage you to treat your regulars better in the future. And oh yeah, make...
