Dont expect small and cozy as far as coffee shops go (like their other location), but this location is where they roast their beans so it's a great place to come and see that close up. You can get a bit educated by the staff, pick up some beans and stay for a great cup. Biera is attached so it can get a bit busy but the atmosphere is fun, everyone is enjoying good coffee, beer and food. Also a bike shop is attached so it can be a one stop shop if - like me - those are your main hobbies! Transcend staff seem to be consistently super helpful and kind; willing to take time to talk shop with you. Their espresso drinks are generally very good of course, although I have been underwhelmed by their batch brew and would suggest a hand brew method for brewed coffee if possible. I use an aeropress at home so I'm a bit spoiled by that. When combined with their excellent beans it's the best cup I've ever had, every time. Highly recommend...
Read moreTwo strikes from our recent visit: Unreliable outdoor seating and no reusable mugs.
I arrived at 8am with a few work friends on our way down 76th thinking that with such beautiful weather we could sit outside. Unfortunately the baristas had not set up the outdoor seating, and even when we expressed interest in it, they still hadn't set it up by the time we left nearly an hour later. Without outdoor seating in the summer, this place loses a lot of appeal.
I asked for a ceramic mug for my to-stay drink, but they said they only have paper cups. To me this demonstrates a lack of focus on environmental sustainability, and I wonder what other unsavory and less visible business practices are happening in this shop.
I was trying to start a regular bike-to-work coffee stop here with a 6-12 people, but with this first experience I may struggle to get the team on-board for more visits to...
Read moreGreat service, great coffee, great family-friendly atmosphere. They occasionally have unique lattes or coffee drinks (I think they once had a beet latte or something?) so a cool place to try new flavours, or just to get your favourite go-to café drink. The seating isn't the most comfortable, but it's still great for short visits with family and friends. They have a small selection of cookies and and a few pastries, but don't come here if you're looking for lunch. (Head down the block to Blue Chair Café or Farrow for that!) One bummer is the to-go coffee cups are leaky around the lid. (Every time!) So I advise coffee to stay, or bring your own to-go cup which they will happily fill for you. (Eco-friendly option anyways!) Ritchie market is always bustling on weekends. Very popular spot in our local Ritchie community. Also, shout out to Summer who works there, always SO friendly and I...
