We decided to try something different and wanted to see how Mr Mike's stacked up. Mr Mike's is conjoined to Hampton Inn & suites. It has both a dining room and a lounge so you can choose which area you would like to sit depending on your mood. There is ample parking close to the entrance and all the spots are clearly marked. Upon entering Mr Mike's, the atmosphere was relaxed and inviting. I was greeted by a very friendly hostess and I was asked which area I would like to sit, the lounge or the main dining room. We decided to go into the lounge where there are TVs with sports and music and there were board games to play while we wait for our meal which was pretty cool. Our waitress was very polite and respectful. We decided to go for the All Canadian Lodge Burger and fresh in-house made onion rings which also came with homemade Mike's sauce, we also ordered some garlic parmesan fries and in-house fresh chicken tenders. The burger came out absolutely perfect, hot and juicy and very flavorful and the condiments were fresh and the bun tasted absolutely amazing compared to the standard buns you get at other places. This burger is now my favorite as it has dethroned my previous best tasting Burger in Edmonton. The onion rings were absolutely delicious as they were hand made and thick cut and cooked to perfection, golden brown on the outside and soft and juicy on the inside. I was quite surprised with the garlic parmesan french fries as the flavor pops in your mouth and it was very surprising as they seem to have a type of coding on them that made them taste so good. Now, about the chicken tenders, they were absolutely perfect. I've never had chicken tenders of this quality and flavor as they also came out golden brown as they were hand-tossed and the coating was perfect as it kept in the moisture but had that crunch when you bite into it and so fresh. It is nice to go to the restaurant and be impressed that have new flavors tickle your taste buds and I would like to thank Theo manager and his staff for making our stay enjoyable and I look forward to visiting again and try out some more items off your delicious menu (I have to try your steak). I highly recommend visiting this restaurant as you will not be disappointed. Mr Mike's scores a 9.2 on the Munch meter and it is a place you have to try out. Reasons for this score, fresh homemade ingredients, quality of the meats and the food, the friendliness of the staff and the cleanliness of the restaurant....
Read moreI've been here twice now, the 1st time with my husband & our 3 adult children for a little celebration mid January & a few days ago with just my daughter for late night happy hour. Our 1st experience was a full 5! We were sat quickly, water came, then drinks, appies, then our meals. We were checked up on, drinks were topped up & our leftovers were boxed all in a timely manner with a fairly full house that night & every staff member we encountered was polite, friendly & efficient. Therefore we were excited to see there is a late night happy hour as my daughter often works until 9:15. We arrived around 9:45, it took a few mins for someone to come to ask us where we wanted to sit, & we chose the lounge as there were only 2 people at the bar so we thought that'd be the easiest. It took another 10 mins before anyone came to take our order so I gave her the whole order (2 drinks, 3 appetizers) at once because as a former server I know the kitchen is going to want to clean up asap & in general everyone wants to go home. Which is why I was surprised our antler ale & casual soda took another 10-15mins when there was only 2 other people there The bartender was talking with them at the bar, they got another round before we got our 1st & she seemed to be doing end of the night cleaning. When the food runner came she only brought the fries & bruschetta, I assumed it was because she was going back for the lobster dunk because it was hot, but she never returned & neither the bartender, or the other staff we had seen came back to check on us or see if we wanted anything else. When the bartender finally brought the bill she asked how everything was & I said we didn't get the lobster dunk & she said my bad, I forgot to punch it in. Which we had kinda figured by then. So late night service was non existent, the visit itself gets a 2, only because the kitchen did their job & what we did receive for food was good.. but everyone else sadly...
Read moreAfter a busy holiday season, it was time to leave the cooking to the professionals.
We went after the dinner rush as we were looking for somewhere to eat that wasn't fast food and wanted it a bit quieter at a more affordable place. The atmosphere was perfect! We played one of the board games they have available to play while waiting for our appetizers. We didn't get too far though as our order came out quickly.
I ordered the caesar salad with the cajun chicken and added on some cheesey garlic toast suggested by our server. For an appetizer I ordered the stuffed mushroom caps. The salad was tasty! Although, the chicken was quite dry but still managed to add good flavoring when eaten with the salad. The stuffed mushrooms were also a bit on the over done side but still delicious, bubbling cream cheese filled with shrimp and crab baked onto the button mushrooms.
My foodie partner ordered the steak Oscar with a starter of spicy Thai shrimp. The steak was seared perfectly as ordered and the seafood sauce had lots of crab meat and scallops, all drizzled nicely on top. It was a bit salty but together with the seasonal vegetables and steak, it was good. The shrimp was a bit on the spicy side, caution if you don't like too much heat, perfect for me but was a bit too hot for him.
Although I only gave the food 4 stars, I did give an overall rating of 5 stars due to our amazing server! She was very attentive, professional, and kind. Offering suggestions for us as the menu has a lot of fantastic options. It was hard to choose just one entree.
It was just what we needed after the holidays! Thanks Brianna for giving us the night...
