On November 27, 2024 at approximately 3:00-3:15pm I observed a Filipino male employee step out of a stall within the washroom - as I'm washing my hands, and he walked right out of the washroom without cleaning his hands. He was wearing a New York Fries shirt, and I was able to observe him walk into the business, put on an apron, and begin handling food.
I expressed this observation to the front cashier and she said she would talk to the employee. He must have heard me because he glared at me the whole time I was telling the front cashier.
I did call to speak to the manager and was given the Supervisor Maribeth. She expressed they had standards and she would talk with the employee. I replied, "It is very apparent these standards are not being met" and when I asked for the managers name (no contact information), Maribeth told me she would need to contact the manager to determine if she was able to provide or give out their name. When I asked for the number for HQ to escalate this issue, she again said to me that she needed to ask her manager for permission to do so first.
I have already submitted a report to the health inspector, both digitally and verbally, as I have a very strong connection to th health inspectors within the Edmonton region. But I have also contacted the Mall's Administrator, Eliyza, and the Property Manager, Daniella to escalate this further. I've also contacted Head Quarters - Recipes Unlimited and have sent an email to Mr. Vaughn to ensure his standards are also being met.
I think when dealing with the public and health requirements, these standards need to be observed by the supervisor/manager every time. I think more and adequate training is absolutely required. I think that employee should be fired for him glaring at me while putting in an honest and necessary review, and the manager needs to be grow-up and not let everything get handled by the under-trained, inadequate, and fully lacking critical-thinking Supervisor Maribeth.
If the manager had any ounce of pride, they would do everything they can to contact me because I am urging everyone to not eat here due to the unclean atmosphere, the unhygienic staff, and the absolute lack of care and hygiene standards outlined by Alberta's food guide industry.
Sad sad sad manager. The owner is being hustled because they don't even know their franchise is not meeting standards. Absolute embarrassment of a staff...
Read moreThe ladies working here are always so friendly. The younger girl in the front went above and beyond - she's clearly familiar with her repeat customers' orders - and handled multitasking efficiently and politely (asking us for just a couple moments as she got more fries in the frier for the next customer). We were greeted, talked to while she prepared and bid adieu with a smile.
I appreciate the staff having access to (and knowing where) the allergen guide is, as gluten-free is a must as I live with celiac disease. The food quality is always the same (excellent and fresh to order). I wish I could give them a rating for atmosphere but MWTC Mall is shabby, especially the food court (and that isn't NYF's fault). Thank you for the BEST Chipotle dip I've had since being diagnosed celiac in 2018. It was so good (and GF sauces are hit and miss) that my spouse went back when we finished eating to purchase some dips for tonight's chicken...
