When first walking into this location I had noticed the gorgeous interior and was excited to grab my bubble tea while out on a stroll with my friends. I had gone up to the counter and was greeted by a kind young man, whilst ordering he was very kind and had a warm smile, I had paid and gone to wait. While chatting with my friends and patiently waiting on my drink I had noticed a co worker of theirs walk into the establishment, I didn’t think much of them but had taken a double take as they seemed familiar. My curiosities were fulfilled and they were not somebody I had known, unfortunately this did not sit well with the worker as she gave me the absolute most disgusting, unfathomable, upmost disrespectful look I have ever seen in my 22 years of being alive. I have never felt so judged and attacked by a simple look from a lady who does not seem as kind as she looks. Although this had upset me I continued on and waited for my drink whilst standing with my friends. As soon as I forgot about the lady she had come out of what seemed to be a workers only area and into the front counter. With hope that she maybe just had a scowl on her face naturally, I gave her the warmest smile I could bring upon myself in the moment. I was wrong. Once again this lady had gave me the most unbelievable look I’ve ever seen in my life. Had I done something wrong? No. Had I offended her with anything other than my presence? Doubt it. Had I given her the same treatment with my eyes? Abdaloutley not. So why was I being targeted as a guest inside of The Alley on currents drive. One star for the nice young man. I hope this finds you well and whoever’s in charge (hopefully not that lady) teacher her some manners and to fix her attitude with guests, as I a fast food worker I treat everybody and anybody fairly and that’s how it should be. Just for your information this was my last experience at The alley on Currents drive on Tuesday,...
Read moreI have been eager to try this place since opening in September, I finally found the opportunity today, after my 4th attempt, when the lines were shorter.
However, I was very disappointed with my experience.
Our cashier did not present us with the option of sugar preference level and temperature level. Due to our experience with other bubble tea stores, we remembered to ask after the receipt was printed. We saw him tell the individual setting the cups up for our drink and manually writing this down on the order receipt.
I ordered a Uji Match Latte, hot, little sugar with tapioca pearls, and my friend ordered the Classic Milk tea, less ice, half sugar.
When we finally received our order, our sugar levels were switched for the drinks and my friend’s drink had no ice at all, making it near room temperature. My drink was also missing the tapioca pearls that we paid extra for.
My friend accepted his drink as made, but I requested to have mine remade as half sugar was way too sweet than my preferred little sugar level and I wanted the tapioca pearls that was missed as well.
The other employee apologized and remade my drink right away. As I left and tried it, I realized it was not mixed properly. I returned home and opened the seal to find that the drink was full of white lumps that was not mixed properly. I am assuming this is from the creamer required for the drink.
I will not write off the Alley based on this alone but I am less eager to return to give it another chance. I am definitely disappointed with our drinks purchased and hopefully this can be improved for future...
Read moreThis is the third Alley location in Edmonton and not my regular. I am a big fan of the Alley generally - I absolutely love the fact that they use cane sugar. I usually frequent their west Edmonton mall location but my husband wanted to try this location. It was pretty dissapointing and I would avoid this location at all costs in the future.
They ran out of tapioca pearls and stated that they had not had time to make more. My husband and I were the only customers and there were 3 staff, literally just standing around.
They did have Deerioca pearls, which from what I understand is just tapioca pearls in a brown sugar syrup. I asked if they could put the Deerioca pearls in another drink given that they were out of Tapioca pearls and they refused and said they were not allowed.
Bubble tea isn't bubble tea without the bubbles, in my opinion, so I ordered the Deerioca matcha (with the special Deerioca pearls). The drink itself was fine, but the pearls were definitely undercooked to the point where they were tough, chewy, and inedible. My husband had a similarly poor experience with the grass jelly - according to him, they tasted plain old with a falling apart texture.
I did complain about the pearls to the staff, who agreed after tasting some pearls from their batch that they were undercooked. No offer of a refund or to remake my drink was offered. I had to ask. Poor customer...
