My husband and I have a 4 month old and got one of our first nights to go out for dinner just us. We wanted somewhere local just in case we had to be called home and needed to get back within 10-20 minutes. We were recommended to this place by family members, but we had also noticed it whenever we'd try by just how cute and inviting it looked with the outdoor string lighting. We went on a Saturday night around 6-7pm and it was not overly packed. The atmosphere is absolutely incredible and the decor was cosy and made for an intimate spot. We guessed that this would be an amazing place to bring couple friends or on a date, but not really with kids as the place is smaller than your average restaurant and quieter in ambiance.
My husband and I marveled at the decorations (Such as the awesome way they plotted out the lighting throughout the venue and the colour aesthetic. We talked to the owner later and he made mention that they did it all themselves which was even more incredible!). We ordered the Chicken bruschetta crostini as a starter and Steak and Fries for both of us. Now, I personally hate tomatoes. I'll always give them to my husband to eat if they're ever on my plate, but while eating the starter we were fighting over every piece of it (Even the tomatoes). By the time we had finished our starter, we only chatted for maybe 10 minutes more before our main meal came out and oh my gosh - I cannot sing its praises enough! My husband and I LOVE steak and fries. Before we had a kid, we would purposefully go to places with steak and fries and rate them. We've been to the Sydney Opera House's restaurant called the Bennelong, we've gone to Melbourne and paid for a $75 steak with no sides, just the meat, and we've gone to obscure bar and grill places our friends have recommended to try every steak. The waiter, James, noticed our dinner order and recommended that we get the tenderloin as it was fantastic. We have never EVER had a steak so tender that you could cut it literally with just a fork. My husband proceeded to only use his fork to eat dinner just because it tickled him so much. We just could not believe it - we may have gone overboard praising it to all of the staff and the owner.
We also wanted to note that the staff member, James, was absolutely phenomenal. We have NEVER had a waiter so aware and friendly to us. He was able to spot my husband's hidden glass behind his arm that was getting low on water and came over to refill it just as my husband finished it. He gave us an awesome creation when we ordered a sprite and asked for a lime as my husband likes to make me Lemon Lime Bitters, and upon requesting another one he brought over cranberry juice in a little bottle for us to mix with it. We had so much fun mixing it and getting the other one to taste it until it was 'perfect'. He was very observant, knowledgeable about the drinks and meals, and we never felt like we had to wait for anything. Overall, the price was reasonable and for everything we got and experienced, we almost felt like it was too good to be true.
We have now made this our go-to dinner place for when we have date nights, and we couldn't be more impressed with it. We loved it so much we also wrote this review up on Tripadvisor as that's where we go for most...
Read moreWe stayed here on the last night of our Nova Scotia trip because we wanted to be close to the airport. The rooms are beautiful. The check in process was kind of informal- we just had to go down to the bar and find a certain person, and paid her right then on a portable card reader. The reservation was done through email.|It was kind of warm, as only one of the bedrooms had an a/c unit, and we didn't notice it at night. FYI, it's above the window and the remote is inside the desk!|We stayed in the Thomas Suite, which has two bedrooms. It's on the top floor. I think the other rooms are smaller. There is a common area on the second floor where the coffee maker and microwave are. They had a few board games, a fireplace, couch and a balcony.|There was cold water in glass decanters in the fridge, and all the glassware was chilled in the fridge as well. There was yogurt and juice in the common room fridge, and our breakfast consisted of muffins, fruit, and granola bars.|It was noisy until the restaurant closed, but after that it was pretty quiet.|The one drawback was getting there. It is on a busy road (we arrived at rush hour), and there is only one way in and out. The parking lot is kind of small, but there were a couple of spaces when we got there. Also, when we came in off the highway, our GPS instructed us to turn left at the stop sign, which was next to impossible. I gave up and turned right, and there is a roundabout about a block that way where you can...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed here for two nights. My mother-in-law joined for one of those nights. The Thomas Suite was great for that because the rooms were separate and both very well sized. Three people could stay here for a week with no issue. The room facing the street is so large and lovely BUT there is a lot of street noise if you have the porch door open. That's ok... it calms down for the late night but is a deterrent if you're looking for a super peaceful holiday in the summer. There is a beautiful view of a lake and a wonderful bathroom equipped with a jacuzzi tub and shower. The closets and bathroom are also spacious.||||Please be aware, though, that anyone with back, leg, knee, or other range of movement disabilities may have difficulty in this suite. The beds are low to the ground and difficult to get out of without assistance if you have a condition that doesn't allow you to easily get up from a low position. Second, there is a step into the shower and there are no rails/bars to hold on to (therefore my mother-in-law could not use it). Now, for able bodied people this is of no concern. But I do want to point this out in case you are in this position.||||The breakfast was basic and self-serve. The WiFi is fabulous fabulous fabulous. The vibe of the bar/restaurant is also great, especially for meeting locals (though the food... not so amazing but totally fine for one night). The staff are SUPER nice...
