The Turtleback Tap & Grill — Restaurant in Fall River

First impression isn’t good. My friend had praised this place when it first opened so we went to eat here a few days ago and was very disappointed in the wear and tear of the place nowadays. Ladies washroom needs repairs as one of the stalls has no lock at all, and the soap dispenser came off the wall completely and the owner seems none too concerned. The food itself has definitely gone down in quality, as per my friend’s perception. I got a grilled chicken wrap covered in way too much sauce and I’m convinced the mangos were canned peaches. My friend pointed out that the fries didn’t use to be shoestrings but thick cut, and the menus didn’t use to look like a diner style menu. So overall, things aren’t as fresh. It’s true that the waitress is more eager to clean dishes then replenish your water and the fact that they serve you canned pop is definitely cutting corners. This place was an interesting experience for us. First, the wait staff is exceptional. Our waitress was really friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Took time to chat and socialize with her tables, but it didnt impact the rate of service for everyone else. She really was wonderful! The menu looked really promising - lots of delicious sounding options, and something to appease everyone! Our entrees (between the four of us) was 50/50. My father in law and I were indifferent about ours; I had the beef stew but found it was a lot of gravy and not very much in the way of meat and vegetables; also, a tad under seasoned. My FIL had the curry and said it wasnt very flavorful. However, my husband had a burger and raved about how good it was, and my MIL had their alfredo and said it was so delicious she asked twice to go back there before they headed home. I have been back here 3 times since my first bad experience, and it has not gotten better. The location is great for me but I find the portions small and prices high. I always go with a group and at least one person in the group really dislikes their food - my dad called it 'the worst steak sandwich he ever had' - although mine has always been mediocre.

I went again last week and there was only 1 or 2 other tables when we arrived, we ordered right away, we asked for the cheque as soon as we were done, and it still took an hour an half for main courses only.... so slow. They were also out of many things on a menu that is already only two pages.

I think they need to pick a lane... either you are a fine dining pub and then you need to deliver on that with better food... or you are not, in which case hurry up the service and make the prices and portion...
