Butter Garlic Prawns: ★★★★★ Margherita Pizza : ★★★☆☆ Fettuccine Alfredo with Chicken: ★☆☆☆☆ Service: ★★★★★ Ambiance: ★★★★★ Overall Experience: ★★★☆☆
Dine-In Experience: We visited Amalfi’s Trattoria and Bar last minute, calling around 3:00 PM to request a table for seven. Despite the short notice, the team—especially our server Candice (we believe)—was incredibly accommodating and kind. The effort to make space for us set a great tone right from the start.
The interior ambiance is elegant yet warm. With thoughtfully set tables, fresh flowers, candles, and a clean layout, the space offers a cozy, authentic Italian vibe that feels inviting without being over-the-top.
Food & Drinks: We ordered two portions of Butter Garlic Prawns, and they were easily the highlight of the meal. The prawns tasted fresh, seasoned just right, and were plated with a small salad on the side, adding a fun and refreshing contrast.
The Margherita Pizzas were decent but nothing special. The sauce was well-made, but the overall flavor was mild and lacked the cheesiness or punch we were hoping for. Not bad, but also not memorable.
The real miss of the meal was the Fettuccine Alfredo with Chicken. Three of my friends each took a bite and had to immediately spit it out—it smelled and tasted off, possibly due to stale or overly sharp cheese. We flagged this with Candice, who brought it to the kitchen. While we were told the cheese was freshly grated, the flavor simply didn’t sit right with any of us. We had to return the dish, which was disappointing and brought down the overall experience.
Service: Service was truly the saving grace. Candice and the staff were attentive, respectful, and responsive—even when we raised the issue about the pasta. That level of professionalism kept the mood light despite the food hiccup.
Ambiance: Beautiful setting with a relaxed atmosphere. Whether you’re there for a casual gathering or a more upscale dinner, the ambiance adapts well. Small touches like table candles and tasteful decor made it feel special.
Overall Experience: While the service and prawns stood out, the disappointing pasta and average pizza dragged down the experience. Amalfi’s has potential—especially with its ambiance and service—but consistency in food quality will be key for a...
Read moreThis was going to be the end to a perfect day at the beach. Several inviting restaurants on this street but who could resist an Italian place with a lit patio and music. First, there's no parking but the owner's car is parked right in front- license says chefnico. We see about a dozen open patio tables at 8pm, hostess- do you have a reservation? No, so we have to be inside. OK After we were sat, our server walked by us probably half a dozen times before greeting us- 10 minutes. This sets the tone for the rest of our experience here. Our appetizer was awesome let me say, we had the Tiger Shrimp. We ordered the Linguine Pescatore, which was mostly calamari and mussels, 2 octopus and 3 shrimp. Calamari had tough and we ended up not eating most of the protein in this dish although the presentation was great. Peach Brule was ok, a couple of the peaches were hard. Through this experience our server only came over 3 times and our food was brought by food runners. Early on there was an incident that involved a staff member being hit by the kitchen door and dropping some glassware and then things seemed to get chaotic. A man kept coming from the kitchen yelling across the dining room, bumped my wife's chair once without acknowledgment. An hour and 15 minutes for one appetizer, one entree and one dessert with 2 drinks. Total with tip was $108. We mentioned to the server our issue with the entree. This is how I judge a restaurant, how they handle my complaint. Are they sincere, manager involved, maybe a drink or dessert, whatever. The server just offered a quick " sorry about that" while clearing our plates, and she was gone. I would have asked for the manager/ owner but it felt like he would not be receptive to my concerns. Overall, we didn't feel valued as a customer. 15 minutes to get the check. When we left, tables open on the patio. 😒 We ended up at the place on the corner of Ridge and Erie.

The place is much brighter and fresher feeling than its predecessor. However, tables are far too close together. Despite being 5:30 & not that busy at all, they had several tables crammed into one small area. We were directly under the fireplace (not on) and the 2 tables next to us were so close that every time the server went to a table she bumped into my chair.
Ordered a glass of wine each and water. Wine came (& was very good) but water never did show up. Ordered calamari as an antipasti which was very good albeit portion a bit small for the price. Caper berries gave it a nice punch. I recommend this.
For entrees I ordered the Orecchiette & my husband the Veal Parm. My entree was very good & portion appropriate. The veal parm “looked” good but the sauce was dismal. It was sickly sweet. Portion looked large but the actual piece of veal was small. Plate was filled up with a portobello mushroom and 6 large strips of peppers, along with spaghetti. Had the sauce been on point it might have been a different story.
Another minor annoyance was when we ordered our entrees the server asked if we would like some bread with it and we said yes. Not at any time did she mention there was an up charge of $6.75 for the bread. Once home I saw that bread with oil/balsamic was listed in the antipasti section but we had already ordered the calamari and when we ordered our mains & she asked if we’d like some bread we didn’t think she was swinging us back to the antipasti section & that we would be charged for it. I assumed (I know, I know) that it was just going to be a couple slices of Italian bread to “scarpetta” the sauce with.
Perhaps it’s just because it’s new and they are ironing out the kinks but the red sauce is definitely NOT Italian and they need to concentrate more on comfort rather than trying to jam as many people in...
