Popped in to grab pizza and wings to go last night after late evening round of golf. Pizza was very underdone. We ate as it was edible and we were starving. The pizza was so underdone that I was not interested in eating more than one small slice. My friend ate about half of the large pizza. We both ate wings. Friend woke up violently ill this morning. Unable to keep fluids down. Called restaurant this afternoon to report potential case of foodborne illness and to inquire if any reports of illness had been received today. Reported to staff that we ordered pizza and wings. Was told by staff that no reports of illness had been received today and that they would “talk to the kitchen”. Staff member did not collect pertinent information to document the incident (the details of the pizza or wings ordered, what time we ordered and ate, my friends symptoms, when the symptoms began, whether or not anyone else was experiencing any symptoms, or my contact information), which under my understanding of health and safety regulations, should have been collected by staff from the reporter to initiate a proper investigation, foodborne illness substantiated or not. Failure to collect this information to document the incident indicates that managers will not have the necessary information to thoroughly investigate the incident (examining food preparation and service procedures, reviewing food logs, temperature logs, and cleaning procedures to identify potential sources of contamination). This is frightening and unacceptable. I will be contacting the local public health unit to follow up on this complaint.
Additionally, no professional attempt to correct our dining experience was made by staff. I would not have accepted a complimentary meal after this experience and failure to collect pertinent information to report this incident to local health and safety authorities, however I would have accepted a partial or full refund for the $70+ we spent on one underdone pizza and 20 wings.
As a Niagara local, I have enjoyed dining at SouthCoast for many years, however, I will no longer dine at this restaurant after this...
Read moreI am so furious and disappointed with the service at this restaurant, which has proven to be a disaster for the second time. The first time I asked about a drink, the waitress gave me this sarcastic response, like I was supposed to know everything about their menu. And to make things even worse, we specifically asked for non-spicy wings, but what did we get? Spicy wings! I mean, seriously? We let it slide that time, thinking it wasn't a big deal. But then, we decided to give this place another chance. We went there, ordered our food and drinks, and while the drinks came pretty quickly, we ended up waiting an hour with no sign of our food. And the place wasn't even packed! When we finally went up to the host to ask what was going on, she just brushed us off like it wasn't her problem and said that asking wouldn't make a difference. She didn't bother giving us any updates either. So, we turned to the waitress, and guess what? She just casually admitted that she forgot to send in our food order. Can you believe it? An entire hour passed, and she didn't even realize that something was wrong when she's supposed to be taking care of our table. The waitress just nonchalantly owned up to her mistake, saying she forgot to hit the send button. Like, seriously? Such carelessness and lack of empathy. It's like they see us as some unimportant beings or something. It's so disappointing because everyone else in Crystal Beach is so friendly and nice. The complete disregard for customer service and basic competence is absolutely mind-boggling. Now, I want to make it clear that I understand the owner might not be directly responsible for this terrible service. It's just unfortunate that despite the potential for good food, the whole dining experience is ruined by the consistently awful service. Sure, the food might have some good points, but it's all overshadowed by the complete lack of attention, professionalism, and accountability from the staff. It's just...
Read moreWent in this evening September 30th (was there Saturday September 28th place was packed, we waited 20 minutes for a table and we waited over an hour for a meal but understandable and the server was very sorry). This evening, place was not busy, seated immediately. We have been there so many times, normally a reasonable wait and good food and great service.
We ordered, chicken fingers with fries, poutine, cobb salad and fish and chips( all easy meals). After 40 minutes( the server did come over after 30 minutes to say our food would be out any moment) the table behind us that came in 20 minutes later than us received their mussels and apps and we waited. Five minutes later we received our meal and the table behind us received theirs as well. The server said that the fryers must have been busy and if that is the case the chicken wings that came out right after our meal to the table behind must have been grossly under cooked.
Normally, I really enjoy Southcoast and the owners are very community oriented and customer service is always a priority but this visit and our server was unapologetic and offered no reason for horrible service. We took our food to go because it was so upsetting and it was also my son's 22nd birthday and the meal was...
