Yoshi Japanese Restaurant — Restaurant in Fort McMurray

This is my second time coming here and one year later after the last time. I’m not sure if they changed owners or if I got a different chef. The food looked exactly the same but the quality was totally different.

I ordered almost exactly the same thing but the tempura was nice and crispy.

Also the Agedashi tofu was super delicious, same as before. Therefore, I will upgrade my rating to 5 stars for Fort McMurray sushi.

Previously 4 stars August 2022 On my recent trip to Fort McMurray, I was craving sushi so I stopped by for some dinner upon arriving.

I order three dishes. Agedashi Tofu, assorted Tempura, and assorted sashimi.

The tempura batter was a little thick for me. The sashimi was okay, not the best or worst I’ve had, however, the agedashi tofu was amongst some of the best I’ve ever tasted. Crispy and light on the outside and super soft on the inside. I could have eaten another batch. Strictly amazing.

Well worth the visit. I’d recommend going there...

Should you visit do order the Yeung Chow Fried Rice, and make sure to put lots and lots of Sriracha hot sauce in it to make it even more tasty. The servers are very polite and friendly, and even though the seating is a bit tight, it isn't so tight that you feel you have no privacy as long as you keep your voices down at your table.

For a starter I would recommend getting their Miso Soup, it is absolutely delectable. And for some reason even if they give you a portion that looks like it'll be gone in a few seconds, it lasts much much longer than you first anticipate. Five stars all the way.

And for those of you who do like it, they do have Wonton Soup, however I do not usually eat that so I don't know how good their Wonton Soup...

DISAPPOINTED!

Upon walking in, I met a server who had a very unwelcoming facial expression and overall customer service. I waited 15mins or more for the food to arrive. I wasn’t even offered water. The food finally arrived and it was really bland. I ordered the chicken Udon soup and it did not taste fresh, the noodles and soup were completely disappointing as well.

It takes a lot for me to take the time to write a bad review. But for the food to be this bland such customer service is unacceptable and should not be tolerated (As reflected on the tip). I would have tipped less but I understand the current state of the economy.
