Taste of the Orient Restaurant — Restaurant in Fort McMurray

It was our first time dining in at this restaurant after the renovations were completed. Unfortunately, the dining experience did not match the new decor… at all. The pho soup did not come with the bean sprouts which should be a given, had to wait 5 minutes to flag down the server when there was only one other table. The cook from the kitchen then delivered a small plate of bean sprouts with old (brown leaves) basil. Since I am being critical, the soup was bland and no flavour. My girlfriend ordered noodles with chicken which came super salty and disgusting. The chicken was hard and rubbery. I am not sure if the chicken was old or what but not tasteful at all and salty as well. Seems like it was a single, old chicken breast chopped up into cubes and lathered with salt...

All around a great experience! The food was great (and the amount of food in the platter for 4 ... Made it a great value for your $ ) working 6 days on and 1 day off in camp at Suncor/ fort McMurray village is dreadful... The food and camp conditions are bleak at best... Plus it means no going home for a good while. . . Thank you for making this a bit more bearable for us lol a friend and I ordered the platter for 4 and an appetizer each... Knowing we'd have leftovers to bring back to camp to have a nice 2nd meal while stuck in camp on our day off! After eating our fill on Sat night, still had more than half left ! Having great Chinese food and Sunday football made being stuck in camp on day off feel almost like home !...

Was Always Good! They are starting to slip...... DONT order the off the sweet basil menue for beef rice noodle; it will come swimming in sauce like a soup almost to the top of the bowl and they expect you to add your fish sauce on top of that. I use to go to sweet basil up in Gregor all the time and order it and it's not edible now. I use to come to here for the vermicelli noodle bowl and that too was swimming in juice just not near as bad as the Sweet Basil menue item........ Ill give it one more shot in a while and hopefully I can increase my star reveiw, but unfortunately I'll have to take them down from my previous 4 stars down to 2...
