Byblos Restaurant & Bar — Restaurant in Fredericton

We’ve been regular customers for takeout from this restaurant and have always enjoyed the food, so we were looking forward to dining in for the first time. Unfortunately, our experience didn’t live up to our expectations. While it’s possible this was an off day, the service left a lot to be desired.

After being seated and served water, we waited about 15 minutes before our server returned to take our order. Once we placed our order, it took an astonishing 50 minutes for the first dishes to arrive. Even then, the food didn’t come out together; it took another 3–4 minutes for the last of the five plates to be delivered. This staggered timing was disappointing, especially considering we were dining as a group and wanted to enjoy our meal together.

The issues didn’t end there. When we were ready to leave, we had to wait another 15 minutes for the bill to be brought to our table. By that point, our patience was wearing thin.

Adding to the frustration, the restaurant felt overly cramped, with too many tables squeezed into the dining area. There were several large groups and the servers had to squeeze between all of the tables to move round the restaurant. This made the atmosphere feel chaotic and uncomfortable.

The food also seemed off from what we have come to expect. Our plates seemed hastily prepared and not consistent with our previous takeout experiences. Hopefully, this was an isolated incident, but it left us hesitant to return for a dine-in experience...

This was the first time we were at this restaurant and I can certainly say we'll be back. The restaurant is very clean with nice decor. They have added clear plastic shields between tables inside for COVID-19 protections for the customers as well as face masks for employees. The food was excellent and for those who haven't tried Mediterranean/Labanese food before, prepare yourself for a great meal. Everything came out very well presented - very appealing before you had a bite. The portion size is also absolutely going to have you leaving full - and prices are also very reasonable. If you are looking for a nice lunch or supper downtown, this should absolutely be one of your choices. By the way, the Taziki sauce - amazing...

I called Byblos to cater for 25 people. They were very professional. They asked me exactly what my requirements were with patience. This was the beginning of the week. Throughout the week, I was anxious if the food would make it on time etc. Well, the food was delivered exactly on time(even 10 minutes earlier to allow us set it up) and still very hot! (It was steaming when it reached :D ) They also called back to make sure everything was in order and as expected after the order was delivered. They did this on their off day on Sunday at 6PM!!!
