We wanted to try someplace new & read the reviews & figured we give this a try after all the great reviews we saw. Unfortunately, we did not get the sushi which everyone was raving about. The atmosphere was quite nice inside even though we did not dine in and that is why they got 3 stars cause we really didn't dine in to give a fair score here. They were very friendly when I went to pick up and the girl even chased me out the door saying wait, wait I have to double-check your order - I forgot your fried rice. I thought great! This is the only reason why I gave 2 stars for service. I had a long drive back out to Islandview from North Side and I appreciate she caught that. Once I made the drive home, the husband unpacked everything & we were missing our chicken chow main noodles. I phoned & they said are you sure, we are positive we packed it. I went through the order and described each container with little sauce cups we got & no noodles. He said well, IF (emphasis on the if- pretty much caller us liars) you really don't have the chow mein, I can give you one free your next time back since it is such a long drive. We agreed but were disappointed but ordered enough that we could get enough if we shared. Once we were putting everything on our plates, the chicken fried rice had plain sticky rice, frozen mixed vegetables (the ones with green beans, peas, little square carrots and corn) and pieces of dark chicken leg meat not even cut up - just the shape of the leg. The tempura shrimp was good & the tempura vegetables were good - this is the reason why they got 1 star for food. The wonton soup, smelled like old dish water, none of us could eat as the won tons had a pungent flavor and everyone spit them out. The husband ordered Bento box A and he didn't mind the beef part, but I thought it was awful & I couldn't even get the dog to eat it. For $98, you would think we could hold onto it for a while, but not even 40 mins later, I got sick. We have decided not to go back for the free noodles - well not really free since we did pay for them in the first place. I am sure the sushi may be good as all the reviews say, but we won't be...

Dear J's Asian Kitchen (Northside) Management,
I am writing to express my disappointment regarding a recent experience at your restaurant.
A few days ago, my family and I visited J's Asian Kitchen (Northside) to celebrate my my birthday. Our excitement turned into frustration due to an incident that occurred during our visit.
We were seated in a corner on the wooden benches, accompanied by our 2.5-year-old daughter who was naturally bubbly and excited about the celebration. While she was playfully tapping on the wooden bench, the owner/server approached us and, without any tact, exclaimed, "Stop it. This is a public place."
The manner in which this was communicated was quite disconcerting, and we were taken aback by the owner's lack of understanding and consideration. Our daughter was not causing any disturbance with her actions, and we were disappointed that the situation was handled in such a harsh manner.
As patrons who frequent family-friendly establishments, we were surprised and appalled by the owner's response. We understand the need for maintaining a peaceful environment but believe there are more polite and customer-friendly ways to address such situations, especially when children are involved.
This incident has left a negative impression on our overall experience at J's Asian Kitchen (Northside), and we feel compelled to share our disappointment. As parents, we would have appreciated a more understanding and empathetic approach to ensure a pleasant dining experience for all customers.
Looking back, I would hesitate to recommend your restaurant to families with children based on this unfortunate encounter. We hope you take this feedback constructively and consider implementing more customer-focused approaches to address similar situations...
Read moreIv left so many good reviews over the years about this particular restaurant so it breaks my heart to leave such a bad one. The service was non existent .I had to ask for our drinks half hour after we ordered. We ordered up front and paid upfront not at the table. After waiting half hour while countless take outs were received and picked up we finally received 6 burnt yet cold spring rolls and 8 goyza ( first time trying that I'm not sure if they were supposed to be cold. Those would have been spectacular served hot) then we were served miso soup in little plastic containers. Which my husband equated to cat dishes Which went right along with the spicy crab rolls that resembled cat food 😞 The crab roll and California roll I ordered were smashed together in a tiny plastic container. We were not given silverware or chopsticks right away but we're offered chopsticks when the rolls finally showed up thankfully because we had to eat the spring rolls and goyza with our fingers. No one checked on us or said have a good evening when we left. The meal was so lack luster and lack taste that we will only be dining at huru from now on when we crave good sushi! Iv never taken the time to write a bad review before but for 60 dollars I thought you should know its not worth it. Sad state of affairs. So dissatisfied this restaurant used to be top notch 😪 J's if you only cater properly to your take out clients perhaps you should consider closing your...
