First, I hope this is constructive & not destructive. I want to love 540, but have been disappointed. I'm not gonna lie - we're lured by the string lights, the location - both the Lighthouse & 540 North (great burger/crummy fries/terrible plastic ramekins for everything)...

But this is for the Lighthouse. Started with ripped, disheveled menus literally thrown on the table by our server. I'm not a snob, but when you've got a $36 lobster roll on the menu, you should do better!

Lipstick on the glasses, one (of the same) cider bubbling away/another flat. Our server who was more interested in his dance moves, didn't seem to care about much (aside from his dance moves), with a sort of 'It is what it is, Muchacho' kind of attitude.

But it was the nachos that were the real steal: I've eaten alot of nachos in my life (sadly), but on a patio with maybe 15 people (nobody really eating), these nachos took 30min & were literally 15 chips on a baking pan. Cheese, a few peppers, maybe green onion? No salsa or sour cream was served with them until we finally distracted DanceFever enough from his moves when we were onto our last three chips! Twenty bucks! Twenty bucks?!

Now, I know they gots the string lights & the tunes & the location, but at the end of the day, that's ALL they had. When our server finally brought the bill & asked how everything was, I couldn't even respond with more than a confused smile, because clearly this guy didn't care & clearly he served us these bizarre nachos without even asking himself: Yeah, how were things? Oh, right...

Hope this helps. I see alot of hype & trend these days, but few that can really deliver past the BonAppetit pics on their website. I think for the prices we pay these days for food & drink, we deserve better....

We had horrible service here.

I am not one to complain about service staff, as my partner and I have a combined 15+ years in the service industry. We understand what it means to be slammed, for mistakes to happen, and to have unreasonable customers.

However, the service we had here tonight was some of our worst ever.

To start, we waited an hour and half for our food from the time we ordered. This may have been more tolerable if they had at least gotten us our appetizer (bread and hummus) at any point rather than with the main course.

At the 60 minute mark we contemplated just leaving, but we had ordered drinks to start and did not want to dine and dash. We came to regret this. It felt like we were being held hostage by our food order.

Sometime during our wait, we asked for more water (not wanting to order more drinks because it had way too long already). At this point, the server gave all the customers around us water despite that we had specifically requested it. We tried to flag the server but even when we did she would only avoid us.

At the 90 minute mark we got out food. Admittedly, it was tough to be upset because the poke bowl and the taco was quite good (the hummus not so much.

Despite not wanting to, we complained to the server about who spoke with their supervisor. We were compensated 20% off.

Honestly, I wish we would have just left early after the drinks. It would have saved us the money and the time.

We love to support local businesses but this experience made it hard for us to want to come back.

Good...

My bf and I went there last night and were turned away because one of us didn't have our ID. We came back and I noticed there were minors (teens and children) inside the eating/drinking area. I understand your liquor license requires you to ask for IDs at the door, but letting in minors contradicts that policy. You also aren't consistent with this policy - we had one server ask for IDs and while he was gone to "ask the bartender if they could let it slide", another server came out and welcomed us to sit wherever we like without question before the other server came out and said no. The food was also insanely overpriced for what you got. My nachos were pretty mediocre and "adding $6 worth of chicken" gets you like 6 small bits of previously frozen chicken. Our server and the drinks were the only good things about this experience. You're lucky we even came back and spent...

We dropped by The Lighthouse for a laid-back afternoon bite, and let’s just say—it hit all the right notes. The drinks were top-tier, with a strong showing of local selections that elevated the whole vibe (though a splash of York County Cider on the menu would’ve been the cherry on top). The food? Stellar. I went with the chicken quesadilla paired with a crisp Caesar salad—both were beautifully plated and packed with flavor. My wife opted for the burrata, which was as elegant as it was delicious. Maybe it was the fresh air, the outdoor seating, or the panoramic views, but every bite tasted like summer at its best. Service was on point—friendly, attentive, and somehow always there the moment you needed them without ever hovering. This place has officially earned a spot on our go-to list. Can’t wait to come back.

Beautiful place with great views. Absolutely HORRID service, sat for 40 mins and had no one take our food order. Wasnt that busy and plenty enough servers, waited 25 mins after recieving our drinks for someone to take our food order then finally flagged somebody down for the bill as we were completely turned off from even ordering food. This wasnt a one off either the gentleman next to us had to flag someone down just to even order a drink after sitting for 20 mins. This is unnacceptable service. I see a lot of other reviews from the past 3 years stating the exact same statements. Staff needs better training.

Nice setting, no idea how any of the food or drink is because we sat for around 1/2 an hour and were completely ignored by all the servers. We were acknowledged when we arrived, told we could sit anywhere so we picked a table and sat down. 3,4, maybe 5 new groups came in and servers brought menus to their tables immediately. After about 15 minutes I went over and asked for menus and said we’ve been here awhile and nobody has come over to our table so they gave us 2 and then ignored us for another 15 minutes so we left. Will never come back.
