Prepare to embark on a culinary adventure at Milda's Pizza, the hidden gem nestled in the basement of the Charlotte Street Art Centre. Not only does Milda's Pizza offer an extraordinary dining experience, but it also boasts the title of being the best pizza in Fredericton. From the moment I tasted their wood-fired pizzas, I knew I had stumbled upon something truly special. Pizza is my favourite food. Whether it’s greasy take out, cooked at home from the freezer or homemade with a thick crust, I’ll eat and enjoy it all. But in the end, you can’t beat a pizza topped with fresh creative toppings baked in a giant wood fired oven. For that, Milda’s delivers! Milda’s is located in the basement of the Charlotte Street Arts Centre. This isn’t much for signage outdoors, so you’ll have to go searching through the building’s hallways to find it. On entering, you’ll find a counter with the day’s menu where you can place your order before taking a seat to await your meal. The menu includes several pizza varieties plus some fresh healthy sides and delicious baked goods. On this visit, I shared a special pizza and salad. The eggplant, smoked cheese and garlic pizza (which came with olives, tomatoes, and spinach) was loaded up with grilled eggplant which paired perfectly with the smokey cheese. The salad was a grilled salad involving mixed greens, grilled zucchini, peppers, blanched beans, cauliflower and a tahini lemon dressing. The highlight of this was definitely the housemade dressing with the tahini adding a wonderful richness to an otherwise light salad. The restaurant operates at the farmers market and has a food truck that appears at events, so loads of opportunities to try the full menu!

What a peaceful gem located in the middle of a neighbourhood. I have not eaten at Milda’s since she opened this Charlotte Street location, previously had only visited her at the market. I have always enjoyed her margarita pizza. This restaurant uses in-season ingredients so it is not always an option to order it. I saw it was available tonight and rushed over for supper! The mozzarella to tomato ratio is absolutely perfect! The cafe is licensed and sells beer and wine, in addition to some sparkling water and juice options. Treated myself to a piece of chocolate cake, which I enjoyed while I waited for my pizza to bake 😉. Once I parked, I wasn’t quite sure where I was going but followed the signs which start outside to the left of the building. As the restaurant is located in the basement of an older facility, I am unsure whether it is fully accessible from the side entrance - I went up about 7 stairs and descended about 10, and some spots are narrow. Milda’s at CSAC is an absolutely lovely spot with vegan and vegetarian options along with some GF-sensitive! Staff were verrrry friendly and respectful. This is a cafe style setup, and you put your own used dishes on a tray on your way out. Accepts cash or debit only. Would definitely return! As I was driving out, I saw there are picnic tables in the back garden.

I visited the market stall yesterday and got a croissant. It was pulled out of a cooler reheated in a toaster oven. The problem is that they only had one toaster which made for a really long wait (~15 minutes). And when I did eventually get my food it was still pretty cold in the middle. I just ate it because I didn't want to wait any longer and was running late for an appointment already.

Maybe investing in another toaster oven would be a good idea so that the other two people working the stall could also help during a rush to fill orders faster. The other two were just standing there while one person did all of the heating alone due to the one oven situation.

I get that the pizza is made fresh and wood fired, and I'm willing to wait for that. But 15 minutes for a reheated croissant that's still cold in the middle of a bit much. Sorry, but I won't be ordering again.

Edit: Lowered my score by a star based on the owner's response to my initial review. No accountability. No apology for the situation. No acknowledgement that they could do things a bit differently to improve their service or product. Just defensive and basically shamed me for sharing my objectively lackluster experience because they are a small business. As if that absolves them from having to bear any criticism or improve in any way? You only need to look at their responses to the other low-scored reviews to see that...
