If I could give a negative number for the service provided, especially Elizabeth's attitude, I would. Long story short, we experienced errors in our dining experience on July 3rd, did not tip, and shamed us for not tipping + saying how it's going to come out of the employee's (who made the errors) salary/pay. I had my toddler, husband (and eventually 2 family members come halfway through)
Errors We got to the table, ordered, only for the server to comeback 20 minutes in, repeating our order, because turns out he wasn't able top send that in to the kitchen. So we had to wait and go back to square 1 and wait another 20-30minutes on top of the time we have already waited for. So that's almost 1 hour of waiting. alright, nothing we can do but wait. still polite. My mother-in-law ordered normal fries as she can't eat any with salt due to heart issues. They gave us, of course, the wrong order. fries with parmesan. It got corrected, they gave fries that we actually ordered. Ok, great. We didn't have any plates when food started arriving, so we asked. They gave us some, but had food crumbs/leftover stuck to the plate. So we asked to get it replaced. ok, but after the 2nd point we were already, we knew we weren't coming back. But we don't have to say that, we know to still be respectful/civil.
Tipping experience Came the checkout. Elizabeth comes with the machine, she watches my husband confirm the amount, tip 0%, and paid. Husband gives back the machine, elizabeth goes "What? no tip?" we were taken aback for sure. We live in Quebec, have been to other restaurants, we've never been asked in this manner. So we explained our reason (even though we didn't have to) just to let her know why and so she would understand.
Elizabeth proceeded to defend the employee and mention how he's actually the best employee and she feels like he's corrected his mistake. She also proceeded to shame us, in her exact words sarcastically, "Alright, I've never experienced this ever. If this is fine with you (with matching hand gestures), this is coming out of his pay check". She mentioned how even a little tip would have been better, because no tip was just plain awful. The discussion, quite honestly, lasted longer than it should have.
This wouldn't have been a big deal if you had dealt with this properly, Elizabeth. For someone who's in the hospitality industry, you act very rude and unprofessional. If the restaurant is not paying their best employee the proper wage, don't put that on the customer. That's your job. And lastly, no customer owes anyone tip nor is it mandatory to give you even 5% if we had a bad experience. You don't get to invalidate what had happened. You don't get to to throw that on our faces and shame someone. It is sad honestly that this is how you...
Read moreThe two stars are for the brewers, because the beer is generally tasty.
The food and, especially, the service are emphatically sub-par, and the value for money is poor.
You will practically have to fire up a flare to get your server's attention, and expect to spend ample time sitting in front of your empty glasses if you don't. That was definitely our experience, despite the staff standing around the counter chatting as often as they were on the floor assisting guests.
Whatever the potential of the food may be on paper, it really doesn't matter given the poor execution. The kitchen has no governor as to what "cooked is". My partner's fries bordered on raw, while he ate his rather small $29 burger off a visibly charred bun. My other co-diner and I received a nacho plate that was so over-done I was immediately able to discard about 25% of the chips straight away due to their being obviously burnt, only to find the cheese had been so hideously over-baked that it had adopted an almost plaster-like solidity. All the chips would come up at once when you attempted to grab any, and they would often come with chunks of paper tray liner stuck to them because of how thoroughly burnt the whole thing was.
No quality check done for 20 minutes, so we just got to sit there in front of a greasy, inedible mass waiting for someone to show any basic interest.
When called to the manager's attention, both he (and a random staffer) felt more impelled to argue than apologize. As an industry veteran the lack of professionalism was embarrassing.
Needless to say we left to dine elsewhere, and won't be returning. If this place was ever good, it has gone off a...
Read moreGood choice of drinks, small choice of food menu. Kitchen closes early at 9-30PM, while the bar is open till midnight (we were asked to leave at 11-43PM). But overall atmosphere is good here due to the location with exception to personnel’s attitude.
The reason for low rating is attitude of waiters. First time our company faced the situation when you got blamed for the amount of tips left and request to get menu and terminal in English. We don’t speak French and our company asked to turn on English in the payment terminal and received an answer that business owner doesn’t want to have that in French. Weird answer which made some disappointment for us, nevertheless we still left small tip and were planning to leave. One of the waiters came back and started blaming us that we left small tip and that they don’t have to have all that in English as it’s QC law and they don’t care if we speak French or not and after we said that it’s all not nice, he said that we need to take lessons from that. He was really rude and I think business owner of this place should pay attention to proper training to respect the clients, doesn’t matter what...
