Mon Café Bistro — Restaurant in Gatineau

I rarely write restaurant reviews but Mon Cafe deserves it. Is the Best Mexican restaurant in the Ottawa region. I usually like my Mexican food hot but at Mon Cafe it is great as chef makes it. Great food, full of flavor. We visited with my family and all of us loved it. The dessert we had was out of this world. Service was as great as the food. It is a family owned restaurant and everyone is so friendly. They went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. Working hard with a friendly smile. Difficult to find such a friendly service anywhere these days. Whole family is hard working and super talented , the real passion is not food, it is singing. I would give seven stars if possible. It's definitely my favourite small restaurant. This is a sweet little family-owned Mexican restaurant. The co-owner and chef, Ramon, makes the most delicious homemade dishes. You can taste the quality and love in every dish. His wife/co-owner/manager, Sylvie, runs everything else, including making their incredible cocktails. Their two other servers are super attentive, professional and friendly. The place has an incredible little outdoor area with great views of the river and some indoor tables too. The washroom is spotless, and the whole restaurant is super clean. If you're lucky, you might end up catching some live music there as Ramon is a talented musician and singer as well as Sylvie who has a wonderful voice. Overall, this was an amazing experience. I was walking with my friend and we had been looking for a little bistro or restaurant to sit down and eat and we immediately heard the music coming out and we had to go see. The food was absolutely tasty! I've never had a guacamole in a restaurant that tasted like real fresh avocados. You could clearly point out that this was not bought from a manufacturer but prepared homemade by the chef. I also ordered the salsa, and I was just as amazed. The pure taste of fresh tomatoes mixing with the spices was an absolute delight. I felt so bad for wasting what was left, so the very nice lady brought us some more chips for free to finish the salsa!
