There on a Friday night (6 of us) … there are a few things that led me to this review. First the positive: the decor is lovely - like really lovely - the bar set up looks inviting and fun. The bathrooms were clean. The drink menu is a lot of fun. Now the not so nice:
Young inexperienced staff running the whole place while some guy in suit behind the bar fills his ego tanks talking nonsense. The hostess was like a deer in headlights - super green.
Our server also super green and inexperienced.
Our drink order, app, and dinner took forever - everyone was hangry and checked out by the end.
Mistake on our order without any communication on how long or how it would essentially be rectified.
They have so many staff members looking at each other with this dumb look on their face - why not hire half the people with more experience and improve service as well as expedited delivery of food?
Some of the food was good - some of it was lame. The avocado salad - lame, portion sizes (I get it restaurants are hurting - but this is silly - masa and veggies are cheap - protein ok I get it - but like I said, they had 50 people running around like idiots. They could reduce their labour overhead dramatically, and maybe improve the quality and makeup of their plates. Also we ordered buckets of beer and they were too warm. The entrance is stupid there isn’t a single place to sit and the hostess is like the soup nazi keeping you standing as opposed to inviting people to sit at the bar. Is she stupid ??? We could have spent $80 at the bar while we waited instead she lectured me about how one person in our party wasn’t of age to sit at the bar, which is fine. The mother of this person could’ve stayed with them.
Anyways … the Spritz venue speaks volumes of the their lack of experience. It would be a shame to see this project go in the same direction.
They need to hire a consultant to help round out the amazing efforts they’ve put in to the decor and flow of the venue.
It’s clear they have investors with deep pockets … c’mon Grupo whatever your name is … let’s get this party started and fix things so that we can all enjoy all your beautiful efforts.
How did I know this review would fly right over your stubborn head? Read all your reviews carefully and never mind what words I chose - you might learn something ! Don’t worry we won’t be back at your establishment I don’t like spending my money in lame restaurants with shitty food and stubborn owners that don’t appreciate...
Read moreMy family tried the restaurant for the first time tonight. My two kids tried the quesadilla on the kids menu. While I understand it is made of corn, they were not extremely soggy and greasy. My kids ended up another plate altogether (mine) and I had to order a an additional plate since theirs was not edible (both my husband and I tried it and couldn't eat it either). I spoke to the owner (who happened to be there) and made some suggestions considering they want to be "family friendly" but this is not the experience we got. Normally you get a drink, meal and desert. Drink isn't on demande and no desert included in the kids meal either.
I had the tostada and it was delicious, although extremely small, as it's offered as a meal (as opposed to an entrée). You'd need to buy another side or additional tostada.
Husband got a nacho which was decent but the whole thing was stuck on the newspaper and he ended up eating the cheese with paper stuck to it. The top parts (not close to the paper) tasted good though.
The menu itself was really confusing in terms of what you'd need to actually get a decent sized portion for a meal and it could add up really quickly. There weren't fajitas in the menu at all and tacos had to be bought in a large portion at 25$ and you couldn't choose the side (beans and rice only). Considering we got two kids meals that were a bust and had to get another "adult" meal the bill came to 95$ without drinks or tip. For a family of 4, it's expensive and we won't be going there again.
If you're adults on a night out, the atmosphere is great, the drinks we saw others have looked good but be prepared to have a hefty bill at the end.
Long story short, if you're looking for a kid-friendly Mexican restaurant, go to Mexicana 129 in Aylmer. Or if you want something more Americanized (I guess) Lonestar in Ottawa. Sucks cause the atmosphere was very...

Was just on my way to a Brazilian festival when I got sucker-punched by a mural: day-of-the-dead skeleton with a trumpet, jaguars, and a serpent-dragon. I turned to my girlfriend and said, “We’re eating here. Now.”
🌮 Food: 5/5 That squid entrée? One tentacle. That’s all it took to convert my seafood-fearing girlfriend. The tacos? Slapped. Quesadillas? Had me singing like I’m in a telenovela. Fajitas? So stacked I needed a spotter to lift the tortilla.
🌶️ Hot Sauce: 11/10 I asked for the spiciest thing they had. They gave me a bottle. Respectable. I looked the waiter dead in the eyes and said, “That all you got?” He glanced around like he was about to commit a felony, then came back with a homemade hibiscus hot sauce that looked innocent… I mixed them together like a spicy little mad scientist - and became a dragon. Coughed fire. My girlfriend looked worried. I looked reborn. I begged them to top up my bottle, rebrand this sauce, slap my face on the label, I want my cut.
👨🍳 Service: 4/5 The staff seemed pretty young - chill, friendly, and definitely polite. They did forget a couple of things we ordered, but never came off rude or careless. Just felt like they were juggling a bit. No bad vibes though - we still felt taken care of.
🎨 Atmosphere: 5/5 There’s a Jaw-dropping mural of a Day of the Dead woman watching you like, “Finish your plate, niño.” The bar is a masterpiece - tiled, glowing, full of plants, and the kind of vibe where you feel like you’re on a movie set.

This spot is what made me start writing reviews. Azta didn’t just fill me up - it set me on fire. Literally.
Dear owner, if you see this: bottle that mixed hibiscus sauce, slap my face on the label, and call it “Dragon...
