Where to start...if i could this review would be a 2 1/2 star.
The decor: honestly the decor was A1, very retro indeed, with a functional jukebox and all. The food: at first glance, the pricing seemed alright. We had hotdog/pogo combo with poutine and a burger. The poutine were very generous in size. Lots of cheese. The gravy was cold and clumpy though which definitely was a disappointment, fries were decent. The hamburger was very sad, the size a burger at mcdonalds, no taste in the barely-there patties. The produce(tomato/lettuce)was nice though. The service: upon entering we were greeted. The cashier took our order and we sat down. While waiting the cook(im assuming the owner) asked me if id like my whole order together or he can serve us what is ready as it is ready. We opted to wait. He prepared a tray on top of the counter and added my items as they were ready. At this point, his friends came in and sat at the stool in front of the kitchen/counter. They were rowdy and their conversation with the cook was in parts unpleasant. I could also see their spatter flying around and thinking, my food is on that counter right in front of them... gross! At this point i received my order, some items are cold(i guess my fault for waiting), some items were missing ingredients. I returned what i was unsatisfied with and mentionned to the cook(owner) that this isnt the most pleasnt environment. His friends did leave, and he served us a side of onion rings to apologize. He also tried to explain to me that his friends ordered food and they werent loitering... he took the time and listened to my point of view. As we were leaving, he gave my children 2 lollipop.
Honestly, the fact that he tried to win me back without me asking was nice (free onion rings and lolipop), i do wish him success in his business, but im not sure im willing to go back. I hope he took my comments as constructive and will learn from it. And honestly, yeah your friend bought a burger, but the disrespect they showed you tonight and your customers should be an eye opener for you...
Hopefully, they can improve through out the next weeks because there is definitely...
Read moreDelicious food and extremely friendly staff! A friend found this place on Google and wanted to try, so us and some friends drove on over after touring a school over in Ottawa, and we thoroughly enjoyed it! 3 of us had a hamburger while one had a smash burger, all with poutine and it came in good time. There are no washrooms in there or the store it's attached to though which is really the only significant downside, but that's not the worst thing!
The hamburger toppings tasted very fresh and the patties were not greasy at all, the condiments also added the perfect amount of moisture. The poutine had cheese curds that weren't cold like some I've had, and the gravy was very tasty.
The style of the place itself was very appealing, the chairs were stunning and super comfortable as well. The tables are a little small if you're in a bit of a group, but the area is quite cozy and has a comfortable atmosphere. This was also my first time in Quebec, so I was very pleased with how at-ease and patient the man that helped us was as we ordered in English, as my accent when speaking French is horrendous and I was worried I would have to bring it out!
Very good experience overall after an extremely long day of walking...
Read moreI experienced a clear instance of racism when I and my friends of color attempted to have a nice meal at a restaurant. Despite seeing other patrons being served, the manager, who was noticeably unfriendly, denied us entry. This behavior was unacceptable and discriminatory.
To make matters worse, the food at the restaurant was very expensive, which added insult to injury. It is essential for businesses to prioritize affordability and accessibility, especially for marginalized communities who already face significant barriers.
We must stand up against all forms of discrimination and demand that businesses treat everyone with respect and dignity, regardless of their race or ethnicity. I hope that this incident can serve as a reminder that we still have much work to do to achieve equality and...
