My boyfriend and I came for dinner and the food was great and the staff were very nice and friendly, except for our waitress Soir; she was quite awful to me. My native language is English, but I understand French and speak a little. Because of this I often feel more comfortable responding in English, which has never been a problem in Aylmer before because almost everybody speaks both. Our waitress spoke French like a textbook and was easy to follow, but I responded in English because I could see her speaking English to others. When she came back with our drinks she scolded us for speaking to her in English and for the rest of the time we were there, completely ignored me, didn't acknowledge me when I spoke to her, and wouldn't even look at me. Soir spoke exclusively to my boyfriend (who also spoke English to her as well as French) and at one point even stood with her back to me like I wasn't even there. She was very friendly with other tables who spoke to her in English only, and I didn't say or do anything wrong to offend her. The way I was treated upset me to the point of tears; I felt like a piece of trash sitting at that table and don't understand why I was singled out this way. Despite the food and atmosphere being great, we won't be coming back unfortunately. I would advise that if you get Soir as a server; ask for...

Its cozy, recently moved to a wonderfull refurbished vintage building, they got a dining hall upstairs from the bar if you feel like bringing the fam, better do it before 8 though.
Wicked selection on tap. I think it's monthly or bimonthly they swap out like..half? For a new selection of craft beers in different styles. Even have a big book of bottles if you are feeling more refined. The staff really knows the beer and like 3 of them brew, so if you wanna talk shop and learn something new or get fancy with undertones and regions there's that too. It's also really good if your indecisive, walk in and give them a style or flavour profile and they got options and recommendations.
Got some good pub grub, the classics are there: burgers, fries, poutine, nachos and such. They also got a few unique items for the area, some charcuterie and cheese platters, some German style sausages and kraut, and grilled cheeses, philly style cheese steak. They really nail the bistro part.
They even sometimes have themes to match the holidays not just st- Paddy's and octoberfest.
Best tap House I've ever been to and the food is pretty good and it's always...
Read moreAbsolutely terrible to be honest. We like to support local businesses and are in desperate need of a good place in Aylmer, but L’autre Oeil falls short big time. Three times in a row now we are told a 30 minute wait for a table, then another 50 minute wait for our food. This last time, We decide to stay as we figure where else can we go after waiting all this time. After watching tables that arrived after us get service, we inquired about our food. It finally came after 65 minutes and was stone cold. All three plates appeared to be old food that was slapped together in the most forsaken way. At this point, after our last experience there was as bad, we got up and left. I simply couldn’t give this place another dime from my pocket. We were clear with the waiter the food and service is just unacceptable; however I don’t think they really care obviously.. I went home and made us tomato sandwiches.
A year later, tried again. Worse than ever. Mediocre cold wrap and fries came burnt to a black crisp.. Took 1 hour to get the food. The place is overcrowded. Beware of the extremely RUDE waitress, dark hair and tattoos. Unreal that she works front line in the service industry. I can’t believe people spend money here. For shame. We’ve learned our lesson-...
