We decided to try Elyo Shawarma because we love the location on Montée Paiement, but this one is closer to home. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. The first time, the taboulé was gritty, likely because the herbs hadn’t been washed properly—it was full of sand, making your teeth grind when chewing.

We decided to give them another chance, thinking it might have been a one-off issue. My husband ordered a shawarma all dressed with rice and extra navet, repeating it twice to ensure it was clear. He even mentioned, ‘please all dressed with extra navet for my wife,’ and the staff assured him, ‘yes, no problem.’

While the food was being prepped, my husband stepped away to use the washroom, so he didn’t see the preparation. When we got home, the shawarma was disappointing again—just navet and rice, with none of the other veggies or taboulé, despite repeating the order multiple times… the meat was fresh though.

This lack of attention to detail and quality control really stands out compared to the Montée...

Elyo Shawarma is a fantastic shawarma place that never disappoints. The food is always fresh and delicious, and the portion sizes are incredibly generous. Even in tough economic times, they've managed to keep their prices affordable, which is a true testament to their commitment to delivering high-quality food.

If you're a fan of Greek cuisine, then I highly recommend trying their gyro plate. The tender, juicy meat is seasoned to perfection, and the accompanying vegetables and rice are all fresh and flavourful. But what truly takes this dish to the next level is the garlic sauce - it's absolutely delicious and perfectly complements the rest of the dish.

We used to love this place. Not that it's not good anymore.. but last experience was disappointing. The older gentlemen rolled our sandwiches without gloves, after having manipulated the cash register from the previous client... that is a turn off for us. And we were overcharged by +$5 on our large sandwich, which we realized only after we got home. It should have been $7,90 and we were charged $12.99. + the extra $1.50 for extra beef... So that was a pretty expensive Shawarma. Over the years, this is our first bad experience... So I suppose the two together just disappointed us so much that we are not sure we'll go back. Ok so although the gentlemen has been there for years and should know his prices, I'll give him benefit of the doubt that it was an honest mistake, but not wearing gloves while manipulating food is...
