Skipped work and headed up north in search of some good food and quality time by the lake.
Being a big fan of BBQ, we found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a shot.
You walk through a spacious Patio with ample seating and umbrellas to access the main door. We were greeted immediately with a smile and asked for a seat on the patio. We were brought menus and given time to go through it. Our drink requests also came in a timely manner.
After some recommendations from the waitress, we opted for the Smoked chicken breast club with the bacon on the side coupled with a side order of fries. We also got the classic burger with a side of onion rings.
While we were waiting for our food, I noticed that their smoker, situated on the patio, was giving off heavenly smells as their briskets were cooking.
The food arrived in a very reasonable amount of time and the presentation was fantastic.
The burger was served on a brioche bun that had perfectly absorbed some of the juices. The meat was a good sized portion and the onion rings!! Oh my. Best onion rings I've had. Likely breaded in Panko, they were perfectly browned and crunchy. The burger and fries were also served with a small portion of deliciously home made potato salad in a cute mason jar. The onion rings were served in a chip basket and the burger was served on a customized The Shed cutting board.
The chicken on the chicken club was cooked perfectly and served on a delicious baguette. My significant other who is a self admitted bread snob, couldn't contain herself.
We had asked for the bacon on the club sandwich to be served on the side and the waitress did a great job at remembering our small but important request.
The fries were perfectly cooked and crispy.
All in all, there is a lot of value and quality here. If you're in the area, I'd definitely recommend this place. Clean, wholesome, delicious food served up at a reasonable price.
Walked away knowing that we'd be coming back for the brisket (which they were sold...
Read moreFull disclosure, I owned the restaurant in this location previously. My true rating is a 3.75 based on the restaurant being a chain and the owners being shackled with product that they cannot bring better product in or change prices based on geographic best practices.
The service is as terrific to that of The Shed. The majority of the crew in the front of house is still the same. The restaurant does offer true consistency in anything I have ordered the few times I’ve been there.
The price points may not be always on par with the rest of the town, however the daily specials are able to more than compensate for that. They have also made several updates which were needed to the premises and have plans for more.
To make and keep this operation profitable and viable to the community, the current ownership should maintain and grow any unique opportunities they can create for live entertainment and ensure they can own a night or two.
Wild Wing the corporation shoud embrace more than just Molson products, smaller wings. But as I give this critique, most of The Sheds price points were significantly lower, 90% of what we plated was made from scratch at a much larger cost, due to labour and not the same buying power.
The bottom line is this. There are terrific locals working to serve and make the town satisfied, perhaps there are areas of improvement, but at least I’ve seen consistency, the owners care and want to succeed and create a solid customer base. Most of the betterment will come...
Read moreI don't typically review restaurants or bars, but in this particular instance, I felt it was very important to acknowledge this Wild Wing. My husband and I were married on Saturday August 3rd. As is Irish tradition, we chose to go to the local bar the following day and any of our guests could follow for a few bites to eat and drinks. We chose to go to Wild Wing on Dalton Road. When we arrived, some of our guests were already there. One of them mentioned to me that the Bartender was on her own that day. Figures that would happen when a large group comes in. Murphy's Law I suppose. It wasn't just our group, there were of course other customers there too. The reason I wanted to write this is because she deserves an exceptional amount of praise. Ashley (I asked her name) handled herself impeccably. Right from the start, she was calm and well mannered. She barely showed anyone how overwhelmed she likely felt. She remained friendly throughout the day and stayed on top of every order with no errors at all. There was not a single guest that didn't comment afterwards about how well she performed under such pressure. Also, I'm not sure who was working in the kitchen (didn't catch his name) but I feel he deserves praise as well. We ordered a lot of food. Everything came out perfectly. No mistakes, food was delicious and hot. I certainly hope the Management and/or Owner gives them praise for staying so cool and doing such a great job. Thank you Ashley and Teammate in...
