A very busy restaurant, they work hard in there, and do a good job. Many customers that are writing poor reviews, forget to check over their orders before they leave the drive thru, or premises. They also wait for too long to come back in to either fix the order, or get what they might be missing, or they can simply call in right away. The staff are apologetic, they give you a new/fresh product if it's not correct the first time, they give you your missing fork, etc. they even give you back your money! A certain complaining customer with reviews below, were going off the deep end, complaining three times by phone (pretty much harassment to the poor worker), and in person all the while the staff made it right the first time you complained so, the staff have done their part, and made it right, so, what more do you want?(that right there, show's your a nutter) Also, some of those below who are complaining, and singling out staff (real nice of you, that person didn't even have anything to do with your order, yet tried to make things right, and yet you harassed three times, and then exploited her name publicly), are also dishing other restaurants in reviews, and obviously they are not content with anything, or anywhere they go, and get off on complaining about fast food workers. Think before you act, as it really looks bad on you, with your crazy like behaviour! Again, what more do you want, also, the staff was not mean, loud, or only after your money (your the one that chose to pay in the first place, and decided to pay for the goods). The staff was sincere, and did a good job of handling the situation, (my goodness, you claim you were missing a plastic fork, yet, you took hours to come back for one, then you had fits, and even threatened to make a "scene" if you came into the store while you went on and on via the drive through and on your phone calls). If you don't like the service, or at any establishment, perhaps you try taking a job in "service" yourself, and walk in the shoes of those serving you, and see how you feel when some nutjob comes in three times to get his point across about a so called missing plastic fork! A&W in Goderich has done a great job, and continues to be a very busy spot, and has lots of return and regular customers, who really enjoy the staff there! I put four out of five stars, as, nothing in life is perfect, we are all only human, and my goodness, things happen, and perhaps some particular customers grow up, have some respect and manners, when speaking to another person, and especially over a so called missing...
Read moreFriday July 12 around 7pm, we stopped for dinner on our way through Goderich. Every single table was dirty and/or covered with the dishes and wrappers from the previous customers. A couple of families were finishing up their meals, but the restaurant was by no means busy. The staff were all in the kitchen and it took a few minutes for someone to come out to take our order. When he did, he seemed distracted by whatever fun time they were having in the kitchen. I ordered a veggie burger and barely got the words out of my mouth before he cut me off to inform me that it would take 10 minutes to cook. I said that was fine, we placed the rest of our order and went to find a seat. The staff member who took our order immediately disappeared back into the kitchen, so we were unable to ask to have a table cleaned off. I used some napkins and hand sanitizer to wipe off the table because it was covered in food pieces and sticky residue. Our food was ready in about the time he said, it was fine, although a little bit cold, which seemed strange since they had to obviously make the burger fresh. There were boxes of napkins sitting on the counter for our entire visit, a mop and bucket out on the floor of the restaurant, and the entire time we were sitting eating, nobody came out to have a look around the restaurant, the staff remained in the back. We could hear lots of laughing , as they were having a grand old time back there. There were dirty dishes piled by the condiment stand as well, and nobody came to get them. There was also randomly a tool sitting out beside our table. I hope the owner is aware of the absolutely unacceptable level of service and cleanliness in this restaurant. We even watched another customer come in and wait several minutes for someone to come and take his order. (Nobody did) He then left without ordering, looking frustrated that no one had come to take...
Read moreThe wait is normally long at this location but our family doesn't mind as the food is always fresh. Tonight, the service made me contemplate not going back. After driving for 12 hours today, we didn't feel like making dinner and so we decided to get A&W. Knowing I was going to order 4 meals, I went into the store instead of drive-thru. No customers were in the store and it didn't appear that anyone was at the drive-thru either. I walked in to order the first item (an impossible burger) and was met with and exasperated employee who appeared to be appalled that I would request something like that. Feeling like I was an inconvenience, I canceled my order and went to Harvey's instead (where they were more then willing to take our order) I understand that people can have a bad day, and I do not know what the employee was thinking when I started to order. I admit that. But treating your customer like an inconvenience is not a good practice. Sorry I was an inconvenience, I likely will not be back...
