I love celebrating milestones or catching up with friends over high tea so I've been to quite a few tea rooms, and I have to say that Charnwood Villa Tea Room was really one of the best! The sandwiches were amazing and all looked and tasted very gourmet! The scones and desserts were beautiful and delicious. There was a great selection of quality black teas, as well as some others, but I'm a black tea drinker and was very happy with my tea. We were also greeted with a pitcher of iced tea with fresh fruit which was a nice surprise, as was the cup of tomato soup! I always leave high tea very full and this was no exception. Great experience, good food.

We aren't tea drinkers, but we still enjoyed the pots we tried. The scones were the best I've ever tried, and the sandwiches (finger sandwiches rather than open faced, an accommodation we appreciated) were almost all devoured.

The location was beautiful, easy to find, and had a wonderful atmosphere. We were the only ones there that day, but I think even if there were other guests, the way the place is set up, it wouldn't have been loud, or like a restaurant at all, really.

My mother and I attended another high tea today at Charnwood Villa Tea Room. We enjoyed every sip of tea and every bite of a perfectly presented high tea. The venue, presentation, food, and tea are excellent. Charnwood is worth the experience, and Goderich is the prettiest town.
