We are local and have a family member that reacts quite bad to gluten. Spoons seems one of two places in Grand Forks that offers GF options. The GF bread servings for the price is very disappointing and inconsistent. 3 times now over the span of several month the GF sandwich was the size of a children's meal for $15+! We've said before we are not coming back because it's way to expensive for a rather disappointing lunch. Still kept giving it another chance because we had the odd good experience and there is frankly nowhere in Grand Forks to get reasonable nice food with GF option. People with an food allergy get shafted more than double - the choices, the prices and the quantity/quality. And on another note the baristas make certain hot beverages different every time - no espresso shot all the way up to 3 for the same price. One says this, the other says that. Nearly every time I have to ask and double check twice on my order. Don't just think and bank on the tourism that is a one time customer, think of locals the support they give you all year around and the consistency people expect...

Thank you for your response, but I would like to clarify a few points. When we arrived at 10:53 AM (I’ve got a message with other people in the group saying it - can provide if needed), we were told that breakfast was no longer available because you had already transitioned to the lunch menu and no longer had the ingredients to serve us breakfast. This was confusing, as your advertised hours state that breakfast is served until 11 AM, and we were still within that window.
I understand your kitchen transitions to lunch at 11 AM, but it would have been helpful if there was more flexibility or clear communication regarding the timing. Our group was simply hoping to order breakfast, as advertised, but we were informed it wasn’t possible due to the kitchen being "closed" for breakfast. We drove about an hour to get here for brunch. Arrived just before 11 (when supposedly they are done serving breakfast) and they let us know they “no longer have the ingredients for brunch”. How did you have ingredients 10 mins ago and not now…...
Read moreWe have had breakfast here several times and would easily give it 5 stars each time but this week we were sadly disappointed! We had specifically planned a stop for breakfast once again on a ride from Trail BC to Kelowna. We knew the cutoff time for breakfast was 11 AM and fortunately we had arrived at 10:45 and got in line to order. We stood in line for 15 minutes before we were able to order which made the time 11:02. When we tried to place our order we were told it was past 11 AM so breakfast was no longer available. After pleading our case with the clerk that we had travelled all the way from Trail and were in line at 10:45 they did not yield saying the kitchen staff was very strict about this policy! We were then forced to order lunch. To make matters worse it took them over half an hour to get the order served! 15 minutes in line then 11:02, Seriously! The food was excellent but a better transition system needs...
