Major's Family Restaurant — Restaurant in Grande Prairie

I have lived in Grande Prairie for over 20 years and I have never been to Majors and figured I would try it. I went in about 7:00 or so for supper. We were told to sit anywhere. There were only two other tables when we walked in. Within about a minute of us arriving another couple sat dawn beside us. They had their food before anyone even took our food order. For the lack of customers in there, I found the food took way too long. I ordered a beef dip and it was so dry, you needed water just to get it down. We ordered a Hawaiian pizza for my daughter and got a pepperoni instead. My wife had the only good dish of the three ordered. Not once did anyone come and ask how everything was. Not once did anyone come by and ask if we wanted refills as our drinks were pretty well empty by the time our food came. So we had supper with no drinks. I found that the staff didn't spend near enough time in the front of house as they should. When I went to pay, I was told I couldn't use my gift card as the store was independently owned. When I was paying I informed the staff of my food and he discounted it, but no so much as an apology of any kind. Service was very poor, food was poor. Not sure I will...

I wanna give 5 stars for the food because it was amazing!!! But the service was awful. We sat down an d waited about 10-15min before anyone even brought us a menu or asked us what we wanted to drink, then waited another 5min to get our drinks and they brought my Husband the wrong drink. We were laughing cause a table not far from us were sharing menus because the one table didnt get any brought to them and then they ended up taking the order of the 2nd table that sat down before the 1st table. They do not have assigned serving areas so they are all just running around, and they were already short staffed the day we went there and the older lady was overwhelmed and was talking about walking out... Kudos to the 2 younger guys working and not complaining. Hopefully they get some better staff in there and get some assigned serving areas so its not such a gong show. But again food was AMAZING so if your ok with waiting 20-30min before getting drinks and your order taken its well...

The three stars are primarily for the wait staff. The cleaning and cooking crew needs some work. The cabbage rolls sauce was canned tomatoe soup I believe. Pfft, that's like when I was poor growing up and my mom used ketchup on spaghetti. Not suitable for a restaurant. The cheese on the pizza wasn't melted although the dough was great. The fries were awesome but I think they are store bought. The crab stuffed mushrooms were soggy and flavorless. All you tasted was the pizza cheese on it. Like at least use a nice cheese, one like something aged. The tea was good haha. So was the gravy. The place wasn't very clean. Especially the arcade area. The foozball table had a whole sticky puddle of something laying in it haha. It obviously rained that soccer game. I wonder how old it was! Dust everywhere and garbage hiding in corners. I wouldn't go back unless someone else paid, I was drunk or out was free. Love the wait...
