Montana’s BBQ & Bar — Restaurant in Grande Prairie

Came in tonight December 2, 2024 for a date night for the girlfriend and I. We had a reservation for 8:30pm so we got seated pretty quickly since it was pretty dead for a Monday night of course. The hostess was great, told us about the half price wings and that our waitress would be right with us. Fast forward about 5-10 minutes our waitress by the name of Nav came to our table and took our drink order without a notepad, who then ended up coming back 2-5minutes later to confirm my girlfriends drink order. Fast forward roughly 10 minutes we finally got our drinks and then placed our order for an appetizer and our main meals. Appetizer came quick with our main meals coming right after finishing the appetizer. No complaints food wise as all of it was delicious. We were only checked up on once just to see if the food was okay basically, all the other times was asking if were wanted more drinks when it was clear our glasses were still full basically. It was giving the girlfriend the vibe of her being a bit pushy and trying to rack up our bill just on drinks. Fast forward to us finishing our food, we asked for the bill and machine. When our waitress Nav came back to the table with the machine, it took a her a few seconds to hand the machine over to me as she was doing something with it but when she did pretty slowly, she nonchalantly started to the typical conversation of “Any plans for the rest of the night?” with the girlfriend while I dealt with the bill. Well, to say the least I know what she was doing with the machine. She basically ended up shutting up when she physically watched me go back to the tipping screen to take off the tip that she added on herself of basically $16 on our $70-80 bill which ended up being like $97 with the tip she added on. Her mistake was handing me the machine on the breakdown screen otherwise I probably would’ve just glazed right over it. I usually tip a constant 20% every time we go out but this time the girlfriend and I thought of 10% max as it was sub-par service in our opinions considering we’ve had much better service here every time prior. So I ended up going back to the tipping screen like I stated to put our 10% tip in which was $7 and some change, not $16. Now that I think about it, I shouldn’t of tipped anything for that shadiness and should’ve just asked for the Manager but didn’t really think of it since we just wanted to head home. Call me crazy but, I don’t think that’s common practice to add your own tip whatsoever. So note to self and future patrons, maybe start double checking the machine before you pay, especially if you plan on a cash tip afterwards and end up double tipping. First time visiting we asked for a booth but were seated at a high table in lounge and told once the booth beside us was cleaned we could move over. As the girl was finishing up cleaning, a couple was waiting to be seated there by the same girl who told us we could have it. No exaggeration we sat with no drinks for 18 minutes, when asked our server where our drinks are she gave attitude then chose to ignore us after dropping them off. Another girl expediting food was very friendly and had our drinks refilled. Our server didn't come around again until it was time to pay, with a scowl on her face and no small talk I might add. Otherwise drinks were delicious and food was great (hence the 2 stars)

Second time.. tried to make a reservation for my daughter's birthday for 10 people, was told they are not taking reservations so on the day of, we show up and were told it's going to be an hour and half wait (there were tables available I'm assuming it was just a power trip or incapable of handling a table of 10). With my daughter upset and looking forward to her night out we decided to go to Mr. Mike's where they arranged to have us seated right away and our server was amazing on her own.

3rd and last time! So grossed out! Got a take out meal.. 6 rack of ribs and one was singled out of the rack looked like a chewed bone re-sauced. Loaded baked potato had maybe half a teaspoon of toppings that cost an extra $2.00. Blah never again. I posted a pic on my social...

We had visited this location just this evening and had one of the most uncomfortable and unprofessional service by our waitress Amanda (white lady, long box dyed black hair). We stayed for roughly 25 minutes and each time Amanda came to our table it was an unpleasant interaction. The hostess seated us and about 5 minutes go by with no acknowledgment from her but from what we assumed in one of the mangers who got us our drinks. We noticed the restaurant was on the busy side so thought nothing of the wait we were experiencing until another girl who was not Amanda had brought us our drink order. We wait roughly 10-15 more minutes still not having put in a food order of any kind yet Amanda had started to get orders from two other tables that got seated after we did, on top of getting bills for tables who haven’t finished their food or drinks. When she does come to the table she is not friendly (doesn’t make eye contact, seems impatient and inconvenienced by us being there) and rushes us to put in an order. We put in our appetizer order feeling uneasy but then as we continued to get ignored after the fact we decided to get our order to go, pay and leave. I’ve been to this location multiple times with no problem from any other staff member.
