I cannot lie to you... This was one of the best dining experiences I have ever had in Grande Prairie. To preface this review. It's the One Year Anniversary of The Local Chef opening and they had a special menu on top of the regular incredible food. My friend and I wanted to go back to one of our local favourite spots and when we heard this event was happening we had to go. The food we had this evening was among the best I have ever eaten and I have been around a ton of spots not only in GP but in Alberta, other parts of Canada, the US and Mexico. The Chef here is astonishing at his job and should be extremely proud of the quality of the food creates. The service was great even though it's a small spot they try their hardest to get everyone a seat as soon as possible so everyone can enjoy the great food. The atmosphere feels amazing. My friend put it best when he said it almost feels like you aren't even in Grande Prairie when you eat here (That's a compliment). Overall this is one of the best spots in GP that everyone should try at least once. Hopefully you'll all love it as much as I do!

I had the most wonderful dining experience at The Local Chef! From the moment I walked in, the employees were incredibly friendly and welcoming, creating a fantastic atmosphere. I wasn't sure what to order, but the food suggestion I received was spot-on. I got a big plate filled with the most delicious food, and before I knew it, I had eaten every last bite—it was that good! The chef is clearly passionate about cooking, and it shows in every dish. Honestly, it's the best food I've had in Grande Prairie so far. If I were a local, I would be here every single day. I can't recommend The Local Chef enough! Thank you, Chef!

Tried The Local Chef while I was passing through GP and it didn't disappoint. I had their BBQ platter which was a healthy portion consisting of chicken, ribs, chicken wings, mac and cheese, fries, onion rings and a bun. Although the food was quite good, there were two minor things: 1. The BBQ items had most of their flavour from the sauce and not necessarily BBQ smoke but the meat was very tender 2. The fries were quite salty but that could be my personal preference. I would still recommend anyone to try them out as the food is great value (platter was 22 bucks) and always nice to support local spots!

Short version : This new spot in town offers fantastic homemade food at incredibly reasonable prices. The chef/owner's passion and warmth add to the experience.

Long version : I recently had the pleasure of dining at this wonderful new spot in town, and it exceeded all my expectations.

We started with the spinach dip, which was nothing short of extraordinary. Creamy and rich, it was infused with Middle Eastern spices that elevated the flavor to something truly unique and amazing. It was served with crisp, warm bread and deep fried pita that complemented the dip beautifully.

For our main course, we opted for the BBQ platter. Each component of the platter was a delight in its own right. The chicken wings were perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The beef rib was tender and smoky, practically falling off the bone. The mac and cheese was creamy and indulgent, providing a comforting contrast to the smoky meats. Each bite was a joy, making it clear that a great deal of care went into crafting every element.

One of the highlights of our visit was the pricing. Despite the high quality of the food, the prices are incredibly reasonable, making this spot the best bang for your buck in the city. The fact that everything is homemade only adds to the value.

The chef and owner is a true gem. Friendly and passionate, you can see the love and dedication he pours into every dish. His warm demeanor made the experience even more enjoyable.

I can't wait to return and explore more of the menu. Each dish promises a unique and delicious experience. If you're looking for fantastic homemade food at unbeatable prices, this is the place to be. ...

The food here is some of the best-tasting you can get in town for a mostly reasonable price. The staff are always friendly and welcoming—especially the chef, who’s a genuinely kind man. I really appreciate how he always checks in to ask how the food is—massive shoutout to him. The location is consistently clean, and the cutlery provided is always spotless.

However, I can't in good faith recommend this place for dinner. Portion sizes, particularly for the price, can be on the smaller side. I noticed this most with the BBQ platter and the chicken parmesan, which are two of the more expensive items on the menu. The chicken parmesan comes with penne noodles, and simply increasing the portion of pasta—an inexpensive addition—would go a long way toward making the dish feel complete. As for the BBQ platter, while the beef rib looks impressive, it's mostly bone with not much meat - the same can be said of the wings. In fact, you get more meat on the half chicken breast that comes with it than on the rib itself, which seems odd given that the rib seems to be the main selling point of the platter. That said, both dishes were absolutely delicious—just lacking in quantity. With a few small adjustments, they could easily be standout dinner options.

Because of this, I’d recommend coming here for lunch or a...

My wife and I heard it was great, stopped in yesterday for lunch. It lives up to the hype! I had a pesto chicken club focaccia sandwich, my wife had chicken parmigiana, both foods we really enjoy. This quality was superb. My chicken sandwich, while it seems like a simple recipe, was perfect. The chicken was cooked perfectly, he had it sliced thinly and layered (not sliced like at a deli, thicker than that), and it was so nicely cooked and tender I was surprised. The bacon, I have not seen bacon cooked that consistently from corner to corner it was the best cooked bacon I have seen in 41 years of being a bacon enthusiast.

It was literally the best chicken club of my life by a pretty large margin.

My wife's chicken parm was also the best I've had, and she's ordered that at many different restaurants. I guess that's the difference of a "chef" and the rest of us haha. The chicken was cooked perfectly, the breading was perfect, the sauce on top was corner to corner, as was the cheese. Tasted great when I tried a bit.

I am gushing about the food, because of how enthusiastic I am about this place. I liked the rest as well, the chairs, benches, the bathrooms had a nice style tap you can just press on, a stool for little kids to reach. I hope you guys are here for many many...
