Ali Baba Cafe — Restaurant in Greater Sudbury

I had a bizarre experience at this restaurant. I went to visit Sudbury with my partner last month. As we entered the city we googled a place to eat and pulled up here to order food. The restaurant was dark inside with no lights on and very grim. Once inside we were going over the menu and we saw the shop offers two chicken shawarma wraps with salad, garlic potatoes and rice for like $15. That’s too much food for one person so we decided to ask if we take only the wraps if it would make any different in the price. While waiting for the shop owner I decided to quickly use the washroom and once out my partner said the owner didn’t like his question and said he’ll charge same $$ for only the wraps. I said it doesn’t make sense and walked outside. The shop owner came running after us outside and started cussing. I was so shocked and surprised, he started asking my partner if he’s Muslim, and then said “you guys are not true Muslims, where you come from it doesn’t look like you know the meaning of being a Muslim”. I asked what’s the problem, then he yelled that we went to his place and used the washroom but we didn’t order food, apparently that makes us bad Muslims. He kept yanking our car door open whenever my partner tried to close it. I felt horrified by his behavior, I don’t know by what book he himself claims to be a good Muslim. His restaurant didn’t have a sign that washroom is for customers only, also when someone visits your place they are a guest, where we come from we treat our guests with respect. My partner didn’t even use the washroom, I did, and he made such a fuss over it, being a woman that felt awful! My partner had to take his temper tantrum outburst for no reason! I could have went to nearby Tim Horton’s or a gas station. The only reason we stopped there because we had intention to get our food from there. Also, where I come from shop owners always adjust prices or side menu’s or offer alternatives when you don’t want a full combo order. Who eats chicken shawarma wraps with rice and garlic potatoes and salad on side??? It seems like the shop owner has a grudge against anyone who’s not from around the area and hates to serve tourists. We will never stop by at this location again, he can keep his miserable shack of shop and his awful...

I went to this place by looking at its review. But I found exactly opposite to what I was expecting. I felt like they treat customer based on where are they from. He asked very weird question, you are not from Sudbury, right? He was right I came here for some conference. But does it really matter where am I from for getting food I ordered?? We ordered two chicken curry, he served us that on a single pot, which we did not expect because it is normal to expect two if you order two. The most importantly, he charged us more than what was written in the menu. The chicken curry price was around 18$ but he charged us 22.5$. My request is do not try to cheat people if you found them new from new place. Also I strongly suggest for new people like me to think before you try...

This is my 1st review of written about any restaurant, I did it because this restaurant gave me food poisoning. I read many good reviews on the Internet about this restaurant, So I decided to go in and have some Good Lebanese food, The outside of the restaurant looks like a abandoned building, the inside Looks like it would have looked dated in the eighties.
