Booked through an online site based on price... had a general idea of what might be waiting but as long as the place is safe, clean and relatively quiet, it's fine. A 1960's era motel with a hallway glassed-in and looking on the parking lot and the rooms along this hallway.||||Check-in was fast and after questioning if the area was safe (and assured it was), it was super convenient to unload luggage and into the room. I was traveling solo and am on oxygen therapy, so no stairs were a real bonus.||||Opening the room, a surprise. Higher quality furniture, very good mattress, new fridge and microwave, large screen TV and great WiFi. After noticing the name of a Toronto hotel chain on the phone, it occurred to me the owner went to some motel auction and bought the furniture from a 4-star hotel. Clean room, fresh paint... unobtrusive A/C. New bathroom and fixtures. ||||The location is on Regent St, a bit of an industrial area and the neighbourhood didn't look that great but after dark, it was all but silent outside - little to no traffic - and the anticipated 2am rush never materialized.||||Kudos to the owners for turning this property around. It still has a way to go (the common hallway is a bit beat) but the biggest challenge is overcoming past bad raps. If you're looking for safe, comfortable, clean and quiet accommodations, the Canadiana should be definitely considered. ||||I got the 4-star furnishings for a...
Read moreI went there on a Sunday afternoon to book a room for Monday night knowing i was going to be late that night. First impression is very dated.. white couches with plastic on them kind of dated.. very noticeable nothing has been renovated since maybe the 80's. Gentlemen behind the desk who i believe to be the owner. Is a nice guy and willing to help if he can. The room i stayed in was fine with small flat screen, eastlink cable with plenty of channels. Microwave and fridge. It was a room inside the main hall so i opened the curtains and had a really good veiw of the indoor pool. It looked clean and good size to. Upon checking in though i seen a sign posted stating the amenities were closed. That would normally include exercise room, hottub and pool. Didnt matter to me but im would bother most. The room and washroom clearly had zero to no effort to clean. But regardless it was decent enough to take a hot shower and get some zzzz's. The motel is in a great location on the main street with a new varity and gas and wash across the street and Tim Hortons beside the motel. I would say this place has alot of potential...
Read moreAlmost sounds made up some of the stuff I'll be including, but I assure you it's not. The room smelt a little like stale urine, the beds were very firm, uncomfortably so, the air in the room was humid, regardless of any attempts to fix it. The Woman at the desk repeated warned me (I'm talking like...5-6 times) that Pets were not allowed, and that sneaking a cat in would cause us to be asked to leave, even after assuring her I didn't have any animals in the car, just my wife and kids. The Hot water for the bathroom was controlled by a light switch in the bed area. The plug for the bathtub was to big for the drain, and there were no full sized towels, only hand towels. Finally during the night I was greeted by a cockroach just hanging out on the bathroom floor. No bagels either. The only redeeming quality here is that the Tv was surprisingly great offering a wide variety of channels. Also the wifi was slow.
Long story short, if you're thinking of staying here, just sleep in the Tim Hortons parking Lot across the street, you'll be more comfortable I...
