It pains me to write a bad review for a locally owned business like this but unfortunately the service I received was so poor that I feel like I must.
I’ve had their pad Thai many times, decided to dine in and try the Green Curry. Green Curry has been a favourite of mine for years. This one has a strong smell of urine. Which was unsettling enough that I didn’t eat any of my food. I slid the food to the edge of the table hoping the server would notice and ask what was wrong. I was not checked on for the entire meal. I arrived 7:15 and was not checked on until 8:00 (their closing time). They offered to make me a new meal but by that time my partner had already finished her meal. I don’t want to have to wait for another meal and I don’t want to keep the cooks past closing time so I said no.
Despite not eating any of the urine-tasting food I was offered a 50% discount on the green curry and was told that’s just what green curry smells like… I lived in Toronto’s Chinatown, worked in restaurants as a cook including Asian restaurants. I’ve happily eaten everything from chicken feet to beef stomach and my fair share of authentic green curry. I can tell you I’ve never once received a dish with a strong urine smell. This was unsettling.
If they would’ve checked on me at any part of the experience they could’ve offered me a different meal, but no, she walked by my table many times, never once stopping to ask if we’re enjoying our meal, despite obviously having my completely untouched meal pushed to the side.
This experience was both unsettling and offensive. I was given awful food and even...
Read moreThe food tastes amazing. Its too bad I no longer trust the restuarant. Unfortunately, I had 2 negative experiences with attempting my gluten-free meals. Both times my meal came with artifical crab meat, which contains gluten. The instructions were very clear, but when I received the delivery, both times my takeout meal contained gluten (artificial crab meat contains gluten). I called to question and educate them. The response was "it only says may contain wheat". Unfortunately, too many restaurants offer gluten free, and NOT celiac safe. Even if the restaurants claim to be celiac safe, some just don't fully understand what gluten is and what foods contain it. Even with the may contain statement, to those with celiac or allergy to gluten, it will trigger the body to attack itself and could trigger anaphylaxis. Why would any restaurant think its ok if it says "may contain". You wouldn't serve someone with a peanut allergy something that says "may contain nuts", would you?. Any trace amount of gluten, as little as a crumb, and it triggers my body to attack itself. Gluten free isn't just a fad and should be taken very seriously. I am truly disappointed because there was potential, but now I will no longer recommend this restaurant as...
Read moreSo went here last night on the very rare occasion of a "girls night out" I was very excited to try it out. So here are my thoughts. Firstly, if you don't have your liquor licence perhaps wait on showing the wine list until you do. I had to ask our server 3 times what they had to drink as she didn't offer. Our server's personal hygiene left something to be desired. (sorry, it is what it is) We ordered 3 different dishes. Presentation was awful. A mess of noodles and veggies sitting in a watery soup. All three dishes tasted the same with a hint of Curry. The server and Maitre'd insisted that everything was made fresh. That was nice. But when our order came in 15 minutes I have to assume that it was not in fact, made fresh...Our server told us she didn't like curry so she was unable to really help us out with ordering. Really? you don't like curry and you work here? And you just told us that?? Place was clean and it was priced moderately anyway. we will most definitely be gong to Indra's next. Good Luck Thai Palace. I hope you grow in to something better than hat...
