Went there on a Thursday at 5:00 pm. There were only the two of us and we were seated immediately. I was looking forward to the food as I grew up in Cortina food during the 70’s and 80’s and 90’s. How I longed for their famous meatball sandwich! Well the restaurant was nearly full with what looked like two large tables of about 20 people each. The noise level was off the charts and had to raise my voice just to talk across the table. Ordered a meatball sandwich and it comes with fries or garden salad for $18.95. I wanted a Caesar salad but was a $5.00 upgrade. I was reluctant, but decided to pay the extra. Don’t waste your money as the bowl it comes in is so small it shouldn’t be considered an appetizer! The meatball sub was OK but not what I was hoping for like I was remembering. It had about three chopped up meatball (couldn’t really count as they were mixed in with melted cheese). But was not as hearty a portion as I was expecting. The bun was crusty and asked for a steak knife to cut it into pieces to eat it. My dinner date had the Tenderloin Sandwich $26 and again upgraded to the Caesar salad 😩. The bun it came on was burnt on the top and we sent it back for a new one. She did enjoy the sandwich although felt the price of $26 plus the $5.00 upgrade was far too costly for a sandwich and Caesar salad. She had a soft drink and I had a small white wine. With a 20% tip our bill was over $93 for two sandwiches a glass of wine and a pop! I’ll let you be the judge if you think that’s...
Read moreWell we went there 6PM on Saturday with a group of 11. We were told would be a bit of a wait. As the only big table was full. We suggested possibly using two or three smaller tables. But that fell on deaf ears. The Manager commented that U came here on a Saturday night what did U expect! Non of us made any comment on having 2 wait. I guess we should have listened to our gut and went anywhere else. But we we were ok with having to wait. Finally got our table! Service was still quite slow. Try to tell the server that we would be needing separate bills. She said she could take care of that after our meals. My Nephew ourder 3 different orders of wings. Roughly 15/20 minutes later the server returned and informed him that they were out of wings! Then asked him what they wanted instead, seemed to be in a rush now He asked her for a menu so they could select something else. No this is a "Family Restaurant" BUT No Kids Menu!! I ordered Garlic Bread which came and was a "Sub Bun" with Mozza cheese warmed up! Pretty Blan! For $14.99 Hmmm! An order of Ravioli the sauce was great but Pasta was way undercooked! My wife ordered the Cobb salad, we asked for extra dressing, they may have thought we said half dressing! It was pretty sparse!
I know they are newly opened but Wow may be a long while before we try again!
I think out of the 11 of us maybe 2 enjoyed what they got! And was two orders of French fries!
Came time for the bills Wow talk about confession! VERY EXPENSIVE FOR...
Read moreCortina 64 is a new Italian restaurant on Notre Dame, and we had the pleasure of visiting last night. Right away, we appreciated the simple, clean layout. The decor feels fresh, modern, and inviting without being overdone.
We kicked things off with a round of drinks: a Moscow Mule, Whiskey Sour, Negroni, and a couple of Caesars. While the Whiskey Sour and Moscow Mule didn’t have the traditional flavour profiles we expected, but were still enjoyable enough to finish.
For starters, we had the beef carpaccio. It wasn’t your typical presentation, but it was absolutely packed with flavour.
For mains, we shared a large Delight Pizza with a garlic parmesan sauce on the side, which was incredibly flavorful. That sauce could easily double as an amazing wing dip. We also tried a medium Cortina Classic (The Kitchen Sink) with buffalo sauce on the side.
We order the Firecracker Gnocchi one with sausage and one without. The sauce was rich, creamy, and had just the right amount of kick. It came with two pieces of garlic toast and would be perfect even for those who aren’t fans of too much spice as it’s very manageable.
Service was friendly and punctual, even with the restaurant being quite busy. The staff handled the crowd well and made us feel taken care of throughout the night.
Location-wise, Cortina 64 is ideal for families, being right next to mini-putt and go-karts—a great spot for dinner...
