Yummm. Came for the gelato and left happily with my green apple gelato. Quaint, traditional chocolatiers with plenty of sweets for your sweet tooth. My sweet tooth predominantly lies with frozen desserts so happily enjoyed my refreshing, sweet, slightly tart green apple gelato. If you happen to drive by please go in to support this little shop! Plenty of parking and pic nic tables to enjoy :)

I make my son's birthday cake every year and this year he turned 18 and I wanted to make his cake extra special. Our favorite treat from here is their chocolate covered strawberries and so I loaded up the cake with as many chocolate covered strawberries as it could fit on top:) I highly recommend this place for their quality chocolates and other delicious items and the amazing customer service.

:::Great IceCream::: It was our first visit here on last weekend as we were nearby. This shop has plenty of chocolates and different flavours of ice creams. As it was a world chocolate day, we opted for a chocolate ice cream. It was really yum. Not that sweet which was great as per my liking and really creamy and rich in quality. Staff was very friendly 😊 Will definitely visit again 👍🏻

I just don't get it i guess... When I moved to Grimsby, several years ago now, many people we talked to said "you have to go to Monks", but they didn't say much more than that. So my wife and I did. The first time we went we got ice cream. It was nothing special and the place was definitely not anything special to look at. A year later(ish) we went with the kids. Again, the ice cream was actually gross and we both tossed it and the kids were not interested either.

If you are from out of Town and looking for something to do, I would recommend not wasting valuable time and money at this place.

To the owners - I would suggest that you fix the sign (at least). It has been broken for a few years now and the place actually looks like a dive, when driving by.

My assumption now of the people that said we have to go to Monks is that, there was no other place in Town to recommend. Not sure there is now either.

The chocolate is nothing...

I have been going there for years, always generous portions. Not sure where these elderly ladies came from that were behind the counter today ( Monday Aug 4/20 between 2pm-3pm) but skimpy skimpy. Purchased 2 small ( not childrens) Gelato. 2 different flavors in each. She scooped the Gelato and scraped it off on side of cup, never pushing it into the cup so that there was empty space under the gelato. I also purchased a choc/ vanilla twist soft serve, regular cone. She maybe swirled it 1 and a half times and handed me my short cone while asking for $15. I asked her why cone was so small and she said " you don't like it!?!" and walked away with it. She brought me another one that was better but not what has been my usual. Note to self, don't go to Monks on a weekday ( I was on vacation today, normally go after work and/ or weekends). May stick with conversations for awhile. At least it will be a full cup...

When I was a kid, my Mom made the best home made ice cream - her chocolate tasted like fudgesicles. Her raspberry... out of this WORLD good! She made ice cream out of every kind of fruit or berry that she could get her hands on, and nothing was watered down - you got intense flavor with every bite. Although I'm careful now about ice cream intake, it's a huge treat for me now and then. I've had gelato here and there over the years, but nothing like what I experienced at Monks in Grimsby, ON. Their cappuccino sent my taste buds soaring. The BEST gelato I've ever had, and yes, it was just as good or better than my Mom's ice cream. I stopped in twice this past week on a trip to the Niagara region because it was so good. I also had a mix of chocolate and cherry, and it was equally delightful. Monks is a MUST!

Nancy...
