"Obsessively local" that's the mantra championed at the Borealis Grille. A superb restuarant that showcases Ontarios finest farmers by sourcing as much as it can locally. During our visit we ordered the fried chicken tacos, the cheese burger and (my new favorite) the chicken and sausage bowl. The beef in the cheese burger was cooked to perfection, juicy and flavorful it didnt attempt to be excessive with crazy toppings instead it focused on the basics and excelled. The fried chicken tacos I suppose was an attempt to add a Mexican twist on the fridge chicken sandwich. It was decent but left us wanting more....more tacos that is 😀. Finally we arrive, at the chicken and sausage bowl. Served with quinoa, lentils and kale this dish is for the hungry eater who needs something healthy and hearty. The portions are well enough that you will hit the spot and the prices are really fair considering the amazing quality of food. Would you like to Support our farmers while eating amazing food? My husband and I spent our first Valentine's Day here as a married couple and I have to praise Jessica for being the best waitress ever! Not only for the efficient service but for her big, bright personality. She checked in often without being overbearing. She she anticipated our needs and had great recommendations. I usually skip dessert but she sold us on the crème brûlée. My steak was a little less cooked that I'd like and she quickly handled it and brought it back with extra veggies. The service was reminiscent of great service in pre-covid days. I was blown away and genuinely want to return even though we have a borealis in Guelph and I'll be sure to ask for Jessica's section if she is working. What an asset to the service industry! We had one of our best valentines day meals ever and our pre wedding ones even included a few posh places in Jasper. The food was amazing, Jessica made our night though as as you can see from my past reviews, I typically focus on only the quality of the food. These were on par.

First time in Ontario and I wanted to sample the local cuisine. Chose the seared trout, and what can I say? I'll be dreaming about that dish until my next trip out this way. The whole thing was so well balanced and really played up that amazing trout. So fresh and light. The servings were the perfect size, and well priced. The staff was just as good as the food. Friendly, good at reading customers, and dealt with an error with someone else's meal with sincere apologies and genuine willingness to make it right. This place is phenomenal. An instant area favourite for me. Edit: I definitely dreamed about that trout. Staying in Burlington (not quite a year from when I left this initial review), so I took the opportunity to drive here to indulge. And I'm pretty sure I had the same server. The food was even better than I remembered. The service was flawless. This is by far my favourite place on the planet. Really the highlight of my trip!

Delicious food. Inviting ambiance. Steak meal was wonderful. Lots of flavor. Perfectly cooked. Chicken tacos were filling and tasty - opted for spicy sauce on the side, which was a good move - when in doubt, control your distribution! Salad appetizer was fresh, and it wasn't overwhelmed by dressing or by garlic. Cornbread was a tad too sweet for my liking, probably because of the honey, luckily the garlic butter spread helped balance the flavour - adding salt made it yummy. Btw, they have course salt in the table. Classy. Decor was relaxed and enjoyable. Seats were comfy. One improvement would definitely be for them to change the lighting directly over tables. A bit harsh for evenings, IMO. Or at least change bulbs to warm white (not sure they were) or, better yet, hue lights on a warmer setting. We did spot a few tables without the bright lights so we will ask for those tables in future. Will definitely be back.

We have been planning to try this place for a long time and finally made it last week. We had the flatbread, burger and fish and chips. Flatbread - Crispy and cheesy flatbread was good with simple flavours. Truffle Gouda + Peameal Burger - One of the best burgers I had in the recent times. The meat was so juicy and amazing. Fish and chips - Most of the places use frozen fish but these guys use fresh fish so you know it will be good. Also, the seasoning in the batter was perfect. They had some holiday bases cocktails and tried couple of them, which was refreshing. The service was excellent with friendly people to keep us happy. Overall, really enjoyed our dinner and will go back again!

Was there today for my mom‘s 86th birthday lunch and with 12 people we had absolutely no complaints whatsoever. As a surprise, we ended up in the private room and it was perfect. It was beautiful when the restaurant clapped after happy birthday was sung. Rhianna did an amazing job keeping us with drink in hand and great food to be enjoyed. Kudos to the kitchen since we did have a couple of allergy orders and you nailed it! I highly recommend this place for everything from the great atmosphere, the staff, the drinks and food, all worthy of five ⭐️ From my family to the Borealis Grille & Bar family, thank you for making us feel special and making my moms day special ❤️
