I cannot express to you how EXTREMELY disappointed I am in the establishment that you have here in Guelph, Ontario. First of all I do not think I have ever been there and not been asked to pull into the "first spot" to wait for my meal. Whether its in the morning for breakfast on my way to work or when I'm just stopping by quickly for dinner for 1. Well today that was pushed to an entire new level! I stopped in this morning and ordered breakfast for myself and my fiance. I simply asked the first window for a debit receipt, not a crazy thing to ask for in my opinion, I like to keep track of what is spent where. I was told it would be at the second window, which ok no problem. I get to the second window, they come out with my meal and try to tell me to pull into the first spot to wait for my receipt. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I am going to be late for work, so that you can print a receipt. So I let them know I was not going to go sit in a parking spot and wait for someone to find the time to run out and give me a receipt. The girl said Ok, and as she was grabbing it I noticed that my sandwhich was made wrong so it was handed back through the window. (Made with process cheese, even though it said stop ask me on it). Next thing I know there is a manager (so she claims) at the window telling me to pull over for the receipt. I explained once again, i should not have to pull over and wait for a receipt, just get the receipt and give it to me. She then began to ARGUE with me how she will NOT be serving me through the drive thru window and I MUST pull over. AGAIN EVERY SINGLE TIME I COME TO THIS MCDONALDS I AM ASKED TO PULL OVER FOR MY MEAL! Please explain to me what the POINT of drive thru is? LIKE PLEASE watch the cameras to see how many times a day that spot is used for this establishment. I asked for a manager at this point which she said she was and continued to RUDELY tell me she is not helping me through this drive thru window and that she will bring it out to the spot. A RECEIPT. So I asked her to simply give me my money back because I have no interest in this meal, which again she stated I must pull over to get it. IM SORRY but I am not pulling over to get money or a receipt. PEOPLE have work to get to, not sit here waiting for them to get it together. Then for you to have a MANAGER sit there and talk to your customers that way? Getting loud, telling us how she wont serve us for the food we PAID for? Are you kidding me? I cannot lie, the way she acted made us definitely not move. The way she got defensive, loud and completely rude, we sat there and waited. She came out the front door with a sandwhich and the money, only to have to walk to the drive thru. She also wanted to sit there and talk to me about the customers behind me? What makes them any better than the ones who just paid sitting at your window? I simply asked for a receipt? Maybe if I did not have to go to that first spot EVERY SINGLE TIME I come to this mcdonalds, they would have got me to go wait for a receipt. WHICH I DID NOT RECEIVE THE DEBIT RECEIPT I ASKED FOR. I let her know right there in the window while she was raising her tone, giving attitude and being completely unprofessional that I would make sure this experience hit every social media and the owner of this establishment heard all about his amazing "MANAGER". Again I do not understand the point of a drive thu if you have to constantly tell your customers to go sit in their car and wait for their food/receipt whatever? Why do you not just close the drive thru and have everyone come in? BEYOND disgusted with today's experience, I really hope that the franchise owner makes a better effort to teach his "Management" team better customer service & how to be prepared for the traffic they get on one of the busiest streets we have...

I recently visited the downtown Guelph McDonald's location and felt compelled to share my experience. I’m writing this review because I genuinely do like McDonald’s—I always have—and I would miss them if they changed and became somewhere I stopped going to.
Unfortunately, the atmosphere during my visit was unwelcoming, and the staff did not appear friendly or engaged. There was a noticeable lack of warmth or customer service that one would typically expect from a McDonald's restaurant.
This isn’t an isolated experience. I’ve noticed this occurring over the past few months—perhaps even longer—but it’s certainly hit home recently. No specific incident occurred, but the general demeanor of the employees gave off the impression that customers were an inconvenience rather than valued guests. They’ve simply stopped smiling. That alone may indicate a deeper issue—whether it’s low morale, understaffing, or a lack of leadership attention. It’s disappointing, as this location has the potential to offer quick service with a smile—something many people appreciate in a fast-food setting.
Additionally, I’ve noticed that the pastries have been stale on a couple of occasions. Unfortunately, because it’s fast food and you typically don’t check until you’re on your way or already home, you end up discovering the issue too late to do anything about it. This may seem like a small point, but consistency and freshness are important, especially when customers have little recourse in those moments.
I hope management takes this feedback seriously and works to improve staff training and morale. Friendly, attentive service should be a standard, not...
