I got a Idli + sambar combo and a poori + potato curry combo to go along with some tea.
Food- The poori and curry was my favorite. The poori in particular was excellent. Soft, fresh and tastes like the how we make at home. The curry was good overall but just a little bit spicy for my taste (still tolerable and doesn't take away from the experience much... just something to note). 5/5 for poori. 4.5/5 for potato curry. The Idli and sambar was okay. The Idli was soft, and I think freshly made. However, I'm not sure about the batter (if a powdered Idli mix was used to make the batter or if it was made from scratch) because of the texture (slightly grainy like with Idli that is made with some powder batter mix or maybe even thawed from frozen). But it tasted fine... could add a little salt but not that noticeable to be honest (I'd rate it a 4/5). The sambar was my least favorite. It was really sweet for some reason (not sure if it's a regional difference in preparation, though). The spice levels and and balance (besides the sweetness) is good (2.5/5). Room for improvement 👍🏻 -Tea: it was nice, rich and deep. So if you want a good indian tea, I highly recommend. Only thing was that no sugar was added to my tea (I was not told it will be made without sugar). I was offered sugar packets but since I got it to go, it was easier to just have it as is. I don't think it's a bad thing as such but I think it might be nice to let us know that it is made sugarless when ordering so we can ask to have sugar added earlier. (4.5/5- .5 taken just cuz of the sugar thing 😅)
Ambiance/ looks- Looks pretty spacious. Nice seats etc. Good if u want to have a small family dinner (saw a few families dining while I visted). The place did look a little empty and like something was missing a bit though. But I assume that's just because it's a new place and more will come along the way. Overall, 4/5.
Service- Since I had take out, I can't give a great feedback on service. I would say it is a 3.5 or 4 out of 5. Room for improvement but not bad. From what I saw, the small troubles seemed to be related to the fact that it's a new restaurant so everyone is still just getting the hang of things and it can get difficult during busy times. But definitely not bad at all.
Parking- I visited at night (8: 15 p.m) and there was a good amount of parking 👍🏻
Overall, good job! I'm glad we finally have a south indian restaurant in Guelph 😊 Hope to see Lepakshi florist and get better with time 🤗...
Read moreI am Indian and I have been WAITING for a good south India place in Guelph and it's finally here. I tried a few "idli sambar" at a few places before and they were hard idli with mix veg for sambar. LEPAKSHI ON THE OTHER HAND WAS SUCH SOFT IDLI and BEAUTIFUL sambar with pure, homemade feeling ghee. The place isn't fancy or rich looking but beautifully homely. It is also clearly a small business but so much heart is put into the food and serving. The owners are kind, respectful and so excited bout the place, it makes you happy. The location is QUITE out of the way if you don't have a car, it can be hard, but if you do, PLEASE GO. If you don't have a car, take a day offf and go, it's worth it.
Food- I got tea, idli to share and then a mysore dosa. The tea was creamy and delicious (I love more milk tea if you don't, maybe don't get it). The idli was cloud soft, sambar was great (I take sambar VERY seriously and haven't had good sambar since India). Mysore sada dosa was good but I LOVED what my roommate got whixh was Onion masala dosa, cheaper but tastier somehow.
LASTLY, definitely go and support the small business and your taste buds. We loved it...
Read moreI recently visited Lepakshi, an authentic south indian restaurant specializing in Andhra cuisine and I was thoroughly impressed. The food was not only authentic but also incredibly tasty, capturing the true essence of Andhra cuisine. The service was excellent, and the owners' interaction with us added a personal touch to the dining experience. I highly recommend Lepakshi for anyone seeking a genuine Andhra culinary adventure with top-notch hospitality. There are some negative reviews for this restaurant, I feel all those are not genuine as they seem to be dummy accounts. Please trust the positive reviews, you will enjoy good food...
