Caissie Pizza & Donair — Restaurant in Halifax

Food is so-so. I've had better donair elsewhere.

My biggest concern here is hygiene.

We watched as the staff prepared our donair. He refilled the donair sauce container with bare hands. And while doing so, some sauce kept dripping on the counter, and a small blob onto his thumb. Interestingly, he decided to scrape off the small blob of sauce from his thumb and into the container, and proceeded to fill it to the brim. GROSS

Then he wipes his hands (not even washing with soap/water) on a towel, then puts on plastic gloves finally. But with his gloves on, he touches so many things that are not necessarily clean (the bucket of donair sauce, weighing scale, fridge). He even pats his gloved hands onto his shirt and pants. Then went to the stovetop and prepared the pita alongside the meat.

This staff continued to use the same gloves that he wore as he prepared our donair. Did not think twice to change. He uses them to prop the meat on the pita, to grab and add tomatoes (as seen in the photo), and finally wraps the donair.

Extremely disappointed that there's a place here in Halifax that serves food in such an unhygienic way. What if we get food poisoning? We don't know what he's touched before he even started making our order. And there's no assurance that all the items he touched with the gloves on are clean and would not make us sick.

I would've declined our order, but it's already been paid for and made. It's not the owner's fault, but I hope this review reaches them and would do something about...

I ordered the works pizza through DoorDash expecting 5 meat toppings since the description says pepperoni, salami, sausage, ham and bacon. Unfortunately the pizza I got had green peppers and mushrooms. HOWEVER, the pizza was still delicious and honestly deserves 5 stars. There's a lot of bad pizza in this city but this place is not one of them. For first impressions, I'm impressed so far. Just make sure to correct the DoorDash error. I can't wait...

We decided to try a new takeout joint. And boydo we ever regret it. The food one terrible We had wings. Which were do overcooked and dry we had to use lots of sauce. The donair was dry, crumbly and tasted fake. It was on pita bread and used frozen donair meat.

We called and complained. And had to drive back to get a refund. It was dark and dingy.
