Mr.Sub — Restaurant in Halton Hills

Do not trust the positive reviews for this Mr Sub as they appear to be all friends and family or alternatively paid reviews. Use your judgement!

I went into this Mr Sub as I was working in the area. As soon as I entered, I felt negative energy from the worker behind the counter towards the customer that was already in store. I proceeded to use the bathroom and this was my first red flag concern as the way that a bathroom is maintained is usually a sign of how the kitchen is maintained. There was dried feces all over the bowl and it didn't look like it was cleaned in months! I just had to urinate, so it wasn't the end of the world. I proceeded to wash my hands and there were no paper towels and no hand dryers, so I came out of the bathroom and used some napkins from the napkin dispenser and at the same time, I notified the worker behind the counter whom later identified himself as the owner "Babees" (not sure of the spelling as this is phonetically written based on what I heard). He was upset that I used the napkins and he didn't seem to care that there was an unmaintained dirty bathroom! I still reluctantly ordered a sub because I was hungry. I ordered a 12" Canuck Classic sub which is the ham, bacon and double cheese. There was only white bread and it looked stale. As he was putting the meat on, he immediately asked me what toppings I would like and I said that I would let him know as he is making it. The reason for this is that he was trying to put less ham on the sub than it calls for! I started naming the toppings that I wanted (which by the way did not look fresh). As I was asking for the toppings, I asked him to discard the rotten veggies. He is also extremely cheap with the amount of toppings that he puts on, he put on 4 slices of olives, a sprinkle of onion, tomatoes only in the middle of the sub....it was ridiculous! Then he proceeded to scold me for not just saying that I wanted everything less the toppings that I didn't want. So he wanted me to say, put all the toppings, except pickles, except jalapenos, except spinach, except cucumbers. REALLY? So I proceeded to tell him that "the reason that I select a topping at a time is simply because he is cheap and doesnt put many toppings on." At this point he gets argumentative and say that "its not like before, toppings are expensive and you cant get all the toppings that you want" AGAIN REALLY??? At this point I was upset that I just tapped my card and paid. He continued to argue with me and complained that I took too many napkins...I took 4-5!!! Those napkins are one wipe paper thin napkins...REALLY??? I said to him that "I am not cheap and I will pay extra if I have to" He did not like that and he said that he doesn't need my money. I asked him for his name (Babees - which maybe should be spelled BABY) and I asked for head office's phone number and he had the nerve to say that I was only asking so that I can get a free sub!!!! So at this point, I was so upset that I flashed about $500 in cash that I had on hand and said I don't need your money or your free subs either and I asked for a full refund and left the sub for him to choke on!!! I cannot believe how horrible my customer experience was let alone from an owner!!! I will be reporting him to both Mr Sub Head Office and to Health Inspectors! Babbes, stop being a baby, grow up and learn how to respectfully treat customers and how to run a business! Stop asking your friends and family members for reviews as you are misleading the other customers! I have never seen so many reviews from the last...

Same Middle Eastern guy as everyone else is talking about.

Ordered a sub for me and someone else. Same subs. He put about 70% of the steak on one sub as he did the other..... I saw him take the steak out, look at the sub... Then pass over it to out some on the next one. Opting to ACTIVELY complete attempt to stinge me out.

I said something to this affect and he responds with "You want double meat?". I respond with "No, I just want single meat, you barely put any on. The right side has two inches completely without meat, look." pointing to the barren area of the sub.

He begrudgingly puts on a very small amount of meat.

At that point I decided to never come back. I do not support business owners that do this to people. I've been there so many times too, it's just silly that he lost a customer for life over $0.25 of steak.

Also, to comment on some others postings here. There are never any female workers there. Only male.

I've seen a female working there for a few months one time, in the 6-7 years I've been going there. Seems like Women do not like to be hired, and when they do... The turn around is quick.

It's really a shame that they let just anyone with enough money to have a Mr. Sub. I will always prefer then over Subway and this just makes Mr. Sub in general, look bad.

I'm going to see if there is some way we can complain to Mr. Sub corporate about this guy. When he is allowed to choose the amounts given on a sub. Main toppings, not pre set amounts like before in those small paper dishes. He fully takes advantage and gives you less. Every time.

I'm sure Mr. Sub Inc would be interested in...

I went to the Acton Mr Sub and almost instantly turned around and left for the 2nd time in 3 years. I went here 3 years ago. and was disgusted by the filth in and around the food. My skin was crawling because of the flies landing on the cold cuts. The glass counter must not have been wiped down in months as it was filthy. I decided to give it another try yesterday and I was gagging. I had a very long day and I was looking forward to a delicious sub.
