First, I scanned some of the lower ratings 'cause I was interested since I'm giving this place a rare 5/5. One person gave them a 4/5 'cause they put the coffee in the "to-go" cup. I'm sorry, but your fault for not telling them. I told them and got a beautiful mug instead of a to-go cup. They don't deserve losing a star for that.
Now for my actual review. I am not a fan of coffee shops in Toronto. Most likely due to massive rents, the coffee shops are cramped and not conducive to studying, doing any laptop work or anything. That's why I did a bit of a road trip to find a coffee shop I might like to work in.
Atmosphere - This place is spacious enough, about four tables that seat four people, a long table for up to six people, a few two person tables and a couch. Chairs aren't super comfortable, but not going to ruin your butt either. They're fine. The music isn't super loud. You can keep a conversation going.
Customer Service - Excellent. Friendly, approachable, relatable, and hard working. They really can't get better. I talked to each of the Barista's working there and tested each with a question like "Am I doing the wifi password wrong?' etc...Each was helpful and friendly. Worth a 20% tip minimum.
Food & Drink - Great! No complaints. They even have vegan options and every syrup I think that exists including sugar free options. When I asked for the sugar free vanilla for my London Fog that triggered one of the Barista's to ask if I wanted regular milk or something else. They're really on top of it. Quality of food is excellent and they have a nice variety.
Wifi - 60 mbps download, 10 mbps upload. So you can't upload your latest video to YouTube without waiting an hour, but it's great for regular internet usage. To me, these days, a great coffee shop will have 100 mbps download and upload minimum. But this is fine and meets normal expectations.
Parking - 2 hour parking out front. Side streets have actually a lack of parking so if you don't get a spot out front, you might need to park a block or two away.
Washrooms - Unisex. Both are small. If you're on the larger size, one washroom will be better than the other, but it's what they can do with the space so I can't fault them. Both are clean as well which is a sign as to their overall cleanliness.
Conclusion - One of the best coffee shops I've been to in Ontario. It's not the world's prettiest coffee shops, but it has all the heart I need it to have and the quality is...well you can't...
Read moreI had a very unpleasent exchange with one of the employees here. I ordered the mac and cheese and when the employee asked me what size, I said regular, only to have her ask it again and roll her eyes. I understand that you have to be efficient and it was fairly busy at the time I went, but rolling your eyes to a customer? Really? My experience only became worse when my friend ordered. The cafe was full and there were no seats available, but a group had left and so we decided to stay. A mistake. When we asked to get it to go, she then snapped at us, saying "Is it for here or to go?" with all this attitude. We didn't stall a line, my friends were the only ones in it, so there wasn't a good reason why exactly she had been so nasty to us. Finally, when our food was ready, she called out our name. I get up to go get it, except she shoves me out of the way and continues to call my name. I get her attention before she slams down our food onto a table and shoves cutlery at us. Some of the mac and cheese spilt on my friends plate. Overall, the food may be good, but I feel sorry for you if you had to deal with this woman. If she was like this to my friends and I, I can't imagine how she is to...
Read moreNot sure why this place has high reviews. Let me break it down point by point based on my recent experience: Place has the potential, being in a nice location and a good property but not there yet. So, dont charge premium prices until you've reached to a point of providing premium overall experience. (2 coffees, cake slice , bagel for $25, wasnt worth it)
Its a coffee shop, at least get a proper barista, my latte had an inch or more of foam on top, no art and wasn't served as hot as it should be. I get better at Tim's on most occasions.
Cake slice as some other reviews have also pointed out didnt appear to be fresh.
Inside furniture though appears to be an assortment of used pieces yet gives the place a good vibe but please keep your store room closed. First sight as yiu enter the store of cleaning supplies and a mop bucket is not appetizing at all. Outdoor chair and tables are perhaps the cheapest available.
Staff (just 2 ppl across the counter) seemed hardly engaged, lacked enthusiasm and energy (smell some coffee guys)
Overall, not worthy of visiting again. I wish them good luck with the business though, as i said earlier, this place has potential but needs...
